The idea behind this post, is to remember things from growing up that we thought were really cool.

-rockem sockem robots

-blamo bubble gum

-orange crush

-banquet tv dinners(they came in foil then) they were cool because thats the closest thing you could buy to eating like the astronauts.

-tv show Lost in space

-Bill Kenedy at the movies

-shirley temple

-cars that actually went 140 mph out of the showroom

-pop that you had to use a churchkey to open

-hawii five o

-when kool-aid commercials showed the giant pitcher of kool-aide dancing

-when microwave ovens first came out

-when your home had a rotary phone

-when you could say the pledge of allegience in school

-when schools were allowed to paddle you if you were naughty

-when you came home from school and someone was there to greet you.

-let me know what you remember that makes you warm and fuzzy inside

OK..

1. When you could go to a DRIVE IN MOVIE and be in your PJ.s

2. When you could go to a Theatre and see a movie for $1.50, and your parent could drop you off and not worry about you be abducted.

3. You could walk to School and home each and everyday without worry.

4. You could play in the Canyon all day, just coming home to eat, then go back.

5. Take your Surf board to the Beach and be the only ones there all day... Dude.!!

6. Penny candy was just that.

7. Aba Zabba bars were in..

8. Aqua Net hair spray was the only one to use.

9. Motown was the music to listen to, and dance the night away.

10. When Dad got home from work, everyone sat down to dinner.

11. The entire family watched the Ed Sullivan Show on a black and with Emerson, you had to get up to change to a different channel.

12. Summer vacation where just to much fun even if you had to go somewhere with your sisters or brother and mom and dad.. you had a ball.

13. No one taught you how to swim, you went to the plunge and watched the other kids and learned from them.. NO $300.00 lessons just cannon balls and fun.

14. The only extra way to get around was a bike period...no skateboards, mini scotters.. just a good ol SCHWINN BIKE..

15. Saturday you had to clean the house all day, or you couldn't go out Saturday night.

16. Sunday you always went to Mass. (not a Soccer game, mind you I love soccer, it has encrouched on Sunday's that is a day of rest).

17. When your first car was a 1950 Chevy Navy Blue built like a tank, and could hold all 15 of your friend easily.

I know there are more I will be back when I think of some..

My first taste of "chinese food" in a restraunt and how exotic we felt to be eating "foreign" food

Riding in the box of Dad's old pick up truck

Hide and seek in the streets with the neighbor kids of "all " ages

monopoly (my brother always had the ship, I never did)

my father's austin ruby and his first red mini

uncle mac's children's favourites (radio)

the navy lark (radio)

singing songs like these foolish things around the family piano

huge black heavy telephones

liberty bodices

smocked frocks

poly photos (seemed like hundreds of the same head from different angles)

playing rounders in the school field wearing aertex shirts and bottle green winceyette knickers (not the boys)

paddling down a winding creek in your raft with all the other kids passing a guy playing bagpipes, tipping the other guys over, laughing very hard.

the 1st time to a big league baseball game...the crowd, the ominous building, the smells, the perfectly manicured field...wow

The closest thing to a water park was the creek in the woods with the rope swing tied to the old oak. Nobody thought to complain that the water wasn't clean enough.
