Whatcha up to?

Post by Redtail »

Hey everyone........I'm enjoying the garden very much, there's so many fun word games and interesting topics, but I am missing one type of thread that I had in a past forumn, and that's a daily one of general chit chat and members daily ventures. In other words, gettnig to know each other a little better.

I'm loving the humor I'm getting from a few members in the word games and would like to know a little more about them, but the word game thread doesn't seem like the right place to say "where do you live?" " do you have kids?" "whatcha up to today?" Sooooooooooooo, gonna see if I can start this thread, even though I'm not a paying member........yet.

I need a place to rest myself between cooking, cleaning and dealing with 2 teenage boys, 3 cats, a dog and a pain in the butt husband of 30 yrs. I'm hoping to find a place here to share my laughs, sorrows, frustrations, accomplishments and most of all, gain new friends on here.

What do you think? Is there already a place like this on here that I missed, or is this alright?

Well first off welcome to FG don't believe I've said that to you. Secondly I'm glad you are enjoying your time here, always nice to see new members spending time here!

As to your question. There are quite a few general chat threads, but to my knowledge the two that tend to be where most talk about just daily things are Friends of Carol and Bothwell's Pub (or Pub Nutters Inn as we have renamed it.)

There you will find a lot of people that just pop in to say hi and catch up on news, which seems to be what you are after.

There's always lots of other random stuff posted though, so just really post where ever you feel comfortable doing so. Anyway enjoy!! :-6

Thanks Chris.............I'll pop in there as well, think I'm gonna introduce myself in here tho.

I'm from South Florida (Broward County) and have lived here since 1979. B4 this, grew up in Ct up near Hartford. I had no clue NY was anywhere near me :wah: we always visited Boston, where parents family lived.

Got 2 boys, kevin and brian, and an idiot named Jim (that would be the husband)

We're getting anew kitchen put in soon, cabinets being delivered monday, so my kitchen is torn up and a big mess. I love to take on home projects, either indoors or out...........

kids are still sleeping. gotta go to lighting store today and decide what we're gonna do int he kitchen, since we took out the drop down florescent lights and added a foot and half of ceiling. No lights in there now. fun fun.

Hot and Sunny today...........YAY!!

Hi Red ... I don't do the word games, so maybe I don't qualify :D But here goes anyway, I'm 21 years old :D :o, I have 2 children (one girl, one boy), 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a pain in the butt husband of 25 years (not really :-4). I'm from Southern UK but now living in PA, USA (4.5 years).

There are plenty of threads about members, the photo threads are good, also there have been some FG videos made with current and older members in.

:wah::wah:

She looks good for having her first kid at the age 6 also!!

Hi Redtail,

To answer your question, we usually make up convo threads, there used to be "ask so-and-so" threads where we would ask people questions to get to know them better and that usually fades after time.

We are a friendly bunch, so a thread that is titled "whatcha up to?" works for me!!

I took a nature hike with my kids to a nearby pond/stream today and the kids got to get good and wet and had a blast...I have pictures I can show later....tomorrow is my oldest son's birthday (he's going to be 19!!--good thing I had him when I was 13 or I'd feel REALLY old right about now:rolleyes::D)--so taking him out for dinner to celebrate....and then have a essay to write for one of my college courses and oh yeah, need to find a job!!....nothing exciting here, but I'll work on being able to share something with you!!:p:wah:

Hi Redtail,

I'm Red or RG or whatever you prefer to call me. I am 42, no kids, single, and I live in the Arizona desert. I've been here for 33 years. I used to run an animal (dog and cat) rescue but recently had to give it up. I still help animals whenever I can though. I have six dogs and three cats, all rescued.

I like doing various crafts like needlework, floral design, painting and beadwork. I also do crossword puzzles in pen. ;) I'm happiest when I'm making something.

It's nice to have you here; you seem very friendly. :-6

I Red, Dewey here, I won't bore you with the statistics they are in my intro, I think, can't hardly remember what I had for supper, or if I had supper. Anyway, we have something in common. I am redewing our kitchen as well, except I'm building all my cabinets, put in a slate tile floor withself customed layout designs, adding a window and moving everything except the fridge, but that got replaced by a larger one and I built a cabinet to fit around it, new sink, OTR microwaver / vent, added a dishwasher and so on. So I know first hand that kitchen makeovers are inconvenient while living in the home. Nice to meet you, and hang in there.

He was home by 11, so far we haven't had the problem of staying out too late, but I know thats only another "yet" on its way.

Yeah, the cabinets are thomasville that we bought thru home depot. I know we're paying bucko bucks more than we have to, but the security of knowing its a company that isn't gonna pack up and leave soon is worth it to us.

The kitchen ceiling was a drop down with flouresant lights so we took them out and have a foot and a half of 8x8 higher ceiling. Jim mudded and sanded all day. He did a fair job of cleaning up after himself, so i'm happy to have the kitchen back, for today. :)

Good Morning...............today I wait for kitchen cabinets to be delivered.

Feeling a little depressed..........the other forumn I've been a member of for over a year is pretty tight knit and I'm getting the feeling nobodys responding to me :(

Could just be my insecure self, but I'm pretty up on that kinda stuff..........sigh...........hence the reason I've reached out in here, looking for somewhere else to chit chat with folks.

Looks like another hot one today, it was only 82 yesterday but felt like summer.

thought i'd share a joke with yall...........

Love story of Ralph and Edna.

Just because someone doesn't love you the way you want them to, doesn't mean they don't love you with all they have. Ralph and Edna were both patients in a mental hospital. One day while they were walking past the

hospital swimming pool. Ralph suddenly jumped into the deep end. He sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there.

Edna promptly jumped in to save him. She swam to the bottom and pulled him out. When the Head Nurse Director became aware of Edna's heroic act she immediately ordered her to be discharged from the hospital, as she

now considered her to be mentally stable.

When she went to tell Edna the news she said, "Edna, I have good news and bad news. The good news is you're being discharged, since you were able to rationally respond to a crisis by jumping in and saving the life

of the! pers on you love. I have concluded that your act displays sound mind. The bad news is, Ralph hung himself in the bathroom with his bathrobe belt right after you saved him. I am so sorry, but he's dead."

Edna replied, "He didn't hang himself, I put him there to dry. How soon can I go home?"

here's another one :)

Interesting fact about Hellmann's Mayonnaise:

Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York.

This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico. But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York. The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost.

The people of Mexico, who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which they still observe to this day.

The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo.

:wah: I always wondered what that holiday was all about.
