I see this done all the time but when I try to do it, it just doesn't happen.

Now, understand, I'm a dumb*** when it comes to doing things but I'm excellent at copy and paste.

The thing is, when I copy a pic and want to place it in a post it won't let me paste. What am I doing wrong?

How do you post a pic from another site into your post? I know I have seen this answer somewhere but I can't find it. Do I have to have a place to host it and then put it in here? Why can't I just copy and paste?

I didn't seem to have a problem putting a pic in my siggy. That went smooth as silk, but a post is different?

help me

When you're editing the reply, underneath the edit window (beyone the icons), second box down is attach files. Click on manage attachments and the new window will allow you to load your picture into the garden. You can then attach it from there.

Yeah, saw that. Don't really know what that means. (I warned you I was a dumbsucker)

I tried to paste in the URL box but the option is not available. If I copied something, where do I paste it? :-2

Not sure ,but I think the only way to get a pic to appear inside the text block is to host the pic on a web url and then use the inset image icon to point to the url..

would you know how to do that 911?

I'm getting to the last step but can't get the attachment to show up in the edit window. It opens the pic up in an http page instead..Getting close but must be missing one little part.

uh, nope.

Yeah, it just sits there saying 'uploading files, please wait' and then it just sits and sits and sits

If I click on my pictures, it downloands the whole kit and kaboodle and I don't think anyone wants that. I mean it doesn't just take one pic. I use Kodak easy share and it puts the whole thing in the upload dohickey.

So, I went to properties of one pic and posted it in my reply box but it just put the property name and not the picture

It sounds like your pictures are held internally to thew application. Is there an export function to extract a single photo?

Not that I can see.

But suppose there is just a picture I find on the net. Just a pic that goes with my reply, sort of like the bird you put in. Is there no other way to do it except through upload attachments? Maybe it doesn't work for me cuz I'm not a paid supporter?

I've never tried attaching a picture directly from the web. The red kite was one I grabbed from a web site a few days ago (right click, save) and I'd want a copy of any picture I posted anyway.

I do not believe that you have to subscribe to attach - just have more than 15 posts under you belt.

we aren't supposed to hotlink pics. eats up bandwidth or something.

you have to save the pic to your computer first. then you have to make sure that the file is within the size limits.

then remember where you saved it.

Well, I'll keep trying. I'm better hands on with people showing me than I am at taking directions. There's always something I miss. :-5

ArnoldLayne wrote: That maybe because the file is too big. Sometimes the photo is a "bitmap" format. These are often very big files and sometimes too big to upload onto the forum. You can turn them into a "jpeg" file that will make them more manageable (using photobox or some such programme)

When you go to "my pictures" on your pc, just highlight - click on - one particular photo.

on the "manage attachments" page, at the bottom it will tell you how big a file you are able to upload

Getting a photo from the web. Might be easier downloading/cut/pasting to your desktop first, then uploading to FG

Yeah, I'm gonna try that next. Thanks!

You guys must have hundreds in some file on your computer! You come up with the cutest and most appropriate pics when posting!

If you really want to post a pic right into your post, get the properties of the picture(it will only take 2 lines), copy and paste the properties into your post and put at the end. As I say, it will only work if the properties is no longer than two lines long but the picture will post direct the same as if you upload from photoabucket.

OMG! It worked!!

Thanks Weber, I had tried this before and it didn't work. I guess it works with some pictures and not with others. Or maybe I put something and the beginning or end that wasn't [img]. I can't remember, I tried it so many ways.

Thanks, sweetie! :-4

It can't be more than 2 lines long, the properties I mean and it is [img] in the beginning(has the be the square parenthesis) and " alt="" /> at the end......have to have the "slash" before the "img" at the end. Oh I see you got the "img's".

Glad it worked. Once you get it to work once, you will get the hang of it all the time. Just keep note of exactly how you do it. It took me a while.:-6
