Well, I am sure the dollar per prisoner is higher up here, though it is only relative. But, what I can't understand is why we have prisoners who have murdered - walking out in minimum security prisons. Whats up with that? We have had two I believe in the last 2 weeks, so it goes to show how much they spend here. I don't know myself, but if your in for murder, should you not be in the "Big House"? where ever the hell that is, who knows?:-5

In 2007, 2,991 people were behind bars in New Hampshire, representing a 6.6% increase drop over the previous year.

- New Hampshire spent $92 million in fiscal year 2007 on corrections.

- For every dollar spent on higher education, New Hampshire spent 73 cents on corrections.

I think they are all in jail for littering...........or jaywalking........or paddling a canoe backwards.:-3..............this may or may not make me a bit nervous depending on if my lawnmower starts this year.

Now that I think about it ...........I believe more is spent on criminals per person than I make each year.............I see something wrong here. wait

92 million divided by 2,991 .............wait

It will come to me................

I can cut the budget in most states by 90%.

All criminals convicted of a violent crime, get hanged by the neck till dead.
Welllllll, there's the government contract that has to be written up, complete with detailed specs of size, strength, & makeup of the rope; the manufacture itself, with the plant submitting to periodic background check to make sure that the legal-to-illegal alien -- damn :yh_doh -- documented-to-undocumented immigrant ratio matches that of the surounding community (to satisfy the Equal Opportunity Act); the testing process, which of course includes stringent studies to verify the fibers won't cause too much pain; the extra round of appeals to challenge why the convict, er, accused, should be hung rather than some other technique; not to mention delays of appeal to prepare a fresh defense; oh and overhead ..... The first rope shouldn't be more than, say $16-18 mil. :yh_glasse
