Great start. We can correct as you go? Three, then - Elijah, Lazarus and Jesus.

Here's a question you can take or not, if it helps. Who was better, Jael or Judith?

That Pecan tree has to go. Plant lavender.

I'd quite forgotten Enoch or I might have worked out what you meant. My memory's not what it was.

Better at... patriotism? Taking the initiative when the menfolk were away from home?

I'm awful tired of having the doplets of pecan spray all over my cars. I can't park my Jeep anywhere near it, since it covers the seats and I end up wearing the sticky stuff all day. On the other hand, it makes for a good anti-slide while I'm driven!

Is there a scientific reason for this? Where's Galbally?:-3
The only scientific reason I can think of is, gravity. The rest of your body happens to be below the lips you missed. Now the main worry is why do you keep missing your lips?:D

One of our vice principals, a former Marine, calls some of our 'bad boys' meatball. They always grin. :D

A little trivia on polaroids. The original film was made with an emulsion made from the colon of polar bears ............ thus the name.

Regarding the coffee issue, may I suggest you only drink coffee while walking backwards? This should protect areas of vital strategic interest...:)

Jester;867841 wrote: Having some extra time on my hand today I took a walk in the vacinity of the place I contract with, down along a walking path that cuts through the city and ajoins a cemetary and a school and a city park, while walking along my typical route I came across a lady in a vehicle with her hazard flashers on, knowing this can be a very crime ridden area I offered her some assistance, he car was inoperable and she was stuck but had a tow coming, I sensed she was leary of me, so I took a few steps back and reassured her I worked in the area and walked this area sometimes and I would continue to walk in the area and keep my eye on her as this can be a bad area for crime. She politely thanked me and I made a rounding walk passing her car and waving each time I passed. Gradually she began to trust me and would shout out "I'm fine thanks!" as I passed.

As I looped around her I thought that she ought to turn her hazard flashers off so as not to attract riff-raff, I mean no need to telegraph the crooks that she is disabled, and on my next round I suggested it, spoke to her about the weather, her car problem and other common niceties and kept on my walk, She did turn off her flasher but not before it attracted a group of youths, thug types that typically run the same path I was one between two very bad areas of the city. And I saw then turn in their path towards the woman. I changed my route to intercept them and came on them as they began to approach the car, they had split in two groups and one was manuvering to coem up on her side as they had sent two of them to apporach her, likely to get her out of the car talking to them so they can either try to steal her car or assault her.

I began to move faster and headed straight for the biggest of the kids, and as they saw me approach they began to realize she was not alone, I made it apparent by my path through the place that I was indeed headed straight for them. The other group that broke off changed thier minds and they regrouped with the two that were approaching the woman. I stopped at the end of the womans car, to use it as a means of splitting the kids up should I need to and I told the woman to get in her car and lock the doors. There was a bit of a standoff for a few seconds, some tension as they decided the wiser choice is to leave and abandon their plans, which is what they did as they gathered together and began to back off and move away from the car back on thier way. She got out after a few minutes of seeing them moving away, and she thanked me for being there.

Ladies and men for that matter:

In an unknown area, if you have to stop, stay on the beaten path, dont get off of it and try to isolate yourself, try not to look disabled or vulnerable, call some one and let them know where you when you get assitance from road service, then dial information and get the local police non emergnecy number keep that number touched up and ready to dial (911 on a cell calls the state police not the local police) call the local cops and ask them to send a car by to check on you, tell them your unfamiliar and scared most often they will send an officer to the area if one is available. Also just as a reminder keep your cell phones charged up all the time.

I commend you Jester for being there for her! so many people in this world today would have just continued on there way with no concern for another person! Good job!:-6

and good advice as well! i know as a woman it's a scary thing these days just to go anywhere alone! and i have a bad habit of forgetting my cell phone! :wah:

Jester;870920 wrote: My Grampa and Dad both used to tell me that in order to get through life I would have to face and defeat the "Giants" that inhabit my pathway.

I've noticed over my life so far there seems to be two or three types of Giants, the first kind are those giants we create in our own minds, mindsets that tell us time and time again that we cannot achieve our goals, like not thinking your intelligent enough to get through college. Then there are the giants that are external, real barriers to achieving our goals, like not enough money for college and things like that. The third type unfortunatly are the ones that no matter what its not anything you can do to defeat the giant, its out of your hands and at best you can only live with that barrier.

So, if I can get a little participation here, do any of you have a giant your facing? A seemingly insurmountable odd, heading the wrong way up a one way street and can't get to where ya want to go?

One giant in my life was not believeing I wasn't intelligent enough to get through anything let alone a college course, so I avoided college, then when I hit the Army I found myself in college courses being taught from college level professors and not only passing but excelling. That giant stopped me, until I learned it was my mindset, and not really a true giant.

I have one giant in my life and that's my lack of confidence in myself. I have a very low self-esteem, and i have never ventured out of my comfort zone to try and acheive any of the dreams i might have had because i have a horrible fear of rejection.

One thing that helped me become more confident is to look back at the small victories in my life. We have them ya know, everyday we overcome something, anything in the slightest it is a victory. Think small.

Can you make cookies? Find a recipe that you like and make it, then make it better somehow, or anything that can be a challenge to you, I have foudn that when you become good at something it builds confidence in other areas as well.

The bigget Giants are often in our minds. Change your mindset. If someone rejects you they arent worth the bother to affect your mind.

And after all that... I can tell you yer a good hugger! :-4

Thank you darlin! come back over to the do you want a hug thread and i'll hug you again!:-4:wah:

i know my problem is in my mind. I grew up in a household with a parent who was very high-tempered and liked to yell, i was so shy and withdrawn that it affected how i functioned in daily life, then i married a man who was also high tempered and liked to yell, no matter what went wrong and no matter if i had anything to do with it or not, it was my fault and i got yelled at about it.

so i've basically spent a big part of my life being yelled at about something and then he leaves me for a younger woman, so there you go, self-esteem down the drain.

btw i am a blue ribbon cook, that's something that i'm very good at!:wah:

Ya know Hope, start your own small business. If you make great cookies/donuts cakes etc., find a company that buys them from a bakery, go in and undercut them, hand deliver them and dress them up in fancy boxes. Being successful in business is a very great accomplishment, and its relatively easy. And its profitable financially. And being your own boss, no one can yell at you! :D

Ya know a few years ago a friend and i came very close to starting our own bakery but we didn't go through with it. as for being my on boss with the fact that i'm running the family farm now i actually am my own boss!:wah::wah:

i think right now in my life is the most peaceful i have ever been, i hope with time that i can gain some of the confidence that's been missing all these years!

Yes. It has to do with hand/eye cordination and gravity. To put it simply, you are a slob.:wah:
