Alternative history, what if...? Canm you help me with college project please?

I hope you didn't mind me asking the above? I'm doing a college project for my creative writing course which is copyrighted, and I wanted to do something a bit different from the norm.

What would happen to the crew of German U Boat it they got lost in a storm during World war 2 & discovered the famed Amazon women of Greek mythology? This is probably a daft question, but I was just curiouse?

Also what would the women and the sailors make of each other and their strange ways? Many thanks. have asked my cousin who is a radio operator in the navy and he couldn't stop laughing, oh well.

Many U Boat crews in those days went out clean shaven, and came back after months at sea with beards as water was strictly rationed and for drinking only. Many thanks, all in-put is most welcome.

It sounds very like you're updating one of the stories of Odysseus, possibly the one with Circe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odysseus#Circe

Anyway, he and his crew kept getting lost and meeting people like the Amazons.

Do you think there's much difference between the crew of a German U Boat and the crew of a US WW2 submarine, other than the degree of danger they faced? I'm wondering why you chose that nationality. The UK didn't have a lot of submarines back then, not full-sized ones anyway.

Actually, we (the UK) seem to have had lots I didn't know about, nearly all in the Pacific and a few around Norway.

I seem to remember a scifi book I read years ago that was very similar to what you describe, except they went into the future not the past.

I'd think about religion, social customs, the love interest, the story (what are you doing to do with a Nazi U boat in Classical times? You might have them involved in the battle of Salamis?) and you need to know something about the layout and working of the submarine. If you are involving magic, what sort and how does it work? It's got to be powerful enough to pull back a U boat a few thousand years...?

You've also got the issues of them perhaps changing the future (or at least worrying about doing so)

Well, there's few randomish thoughts. Hope they are of some use.

Hi mate it's because everyone's is always writing about the Americans or the Briitsh and I wanted to do something a bit different for a change. i watched the film Das Boot and then Xena warrior princess afterwards and that kind of got me thinking.

Not all Germans were Nazis and some saw no reason in the cause. They don't go back to classical times, these are modern Amazons who lied when they said they were wiped out at Troy, so they wouldn't be hunted down and massacred and in doing so preserved their survival. But on hearing of the 'man World' as they call it are curiouse to discover more.

A German U-boat crew, officers would have scheduled time spent with each woman and crewman and kept detailed records and made regular reports.

I think the Amazons get a tour of the boat and learn how the controls work, then that evening they get the crew drunk and by next morning they've stolen the boat and gone off pirating on their own account. That gets you a single evening to concentrate on both groups interacting, which is mushy, and the rest of the book's a far simpler adventure story full of yo-ho-ho, bottles of rum and the occasional use of the lash in a space too small to swing a cat. You get an extra mark for using that term correctly, I expect.

Not a bad idea but I have something else up my sleeve (beside my arm that is)
