Was going through some of dad's old photos and other stuff. Turns out he served at an 8th army air corp 34th bomb group field at Mendlesham. As near as I can tell, only one landing strip still remains. Anyone live near there? Dad always spoke highly of the beautiful Emglish countryside and people. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

It's in the heart of Bomber country, it's as flat as a ducks foot for miles around. I only know of one member from Suffolk, and that's Pinky, and she just left.

Ask Wonderwendy about her grandpa, he was a pilot in the mighty 8th, amazing guy, he's still flying.

A memorial was erected in 1945, the locals take care of it.

Thank you very much for the photos and info. Dad's gone but told of renting bikes and riding the country lanes, the few times he had any time off. Once, his crew had to lay over in Scotland. Even though he was dead tired, he just had to look over a bit of Scotland while he was there. I found a few photos but most were lost.
