The difference between a father a dad

Years ago, when I was very young I'll never forget what the pediactrics nurse said to me. While pushing my wife in a wheelchair out of that hospital, with our new child in my wife's arms to our car at the curb. She saw how young I was, (as well as my wife was) and as she took the baby out of my wife's arms to give to me, so that I could secure baby in the car seat, she said:

You know, most any man can make a baby & become a father, but it takes a special man to be a dad, so be a dad!

I said OK, I know. But at that time I didn't really understand the full magnitude of what she was trying to tell me. It took some years before I realized what she meant! A father can make a baby, but it is the dad that raises that baby to adulthood through all things, good & bad.

I'm proud to say that my children call me dad!!!

I remember someone saying that to me once, and I have truly believe it.

It's sad these days though that there are many men who are not willing to step up to the plate and be a dad to their child.

They don't realize that along with the responsibilties, comes treasures.

My son is one of the unfortunate ones who will never know what it's like to have a "dad".

It's so easy to shirk the responsibility, but I look at my son and it makes me wonder why they would want to.

Well koo, your love and attention can just be doubled, and that will surely help! And the "daddy you", can take your son fishing, and to live Ball games, Car races, and just be sure to have on "your daddy hat", before you have to punish him for whatever, so he won't be made at you!

One day he may well have a 'dad', his sperm donor may be a waste of time but who knows who you'll meet in the future.

I have two step-daughters and a step-grandson, I love those girls and my gorgeous little boy just as much as I love the baby I gave birth to.
