Well Hi Again ;0)

Post by Rapunzel »

Well Hi everyone,

It's been so long since I've been here and there's so many things I want to say but I just don't know where to start!

It's so great to see so many of my old friends still here and wonderful to see so many new friends that I haven't met yet! :-6

I'm working now, busy teaching Year 4 kids, 8 & 9 year olds, the little . . . er . . . darlings. :D I have 4 house bunnies now, they're cute and fluffy, totally adorable, and intent on chewing their way through every carpet and cable in my entire house! We were all sitting watching a TV show a little while ago. We were nearing the dramatic and nail-biting finale, all shouting for the ones we wanted to win, all craning forwards on the edge of our seats, when suddenly *pop* the TV flicked off. There were screams of "Arrrrrggghhh" and "Noooooooooooooo!!!" and we all thought there was a power cut right at the crucial moment! But hang on! The lights were still on!? We looked at each other in confusion . . . and then this little bunny head popped up grinning from behind the TV with a piece of chewed up cable in his mouth!!!! Noooooooo!!! There were shouts of "pot" and "cook" and "sunday lunch" and the poor bunny scarpered pretty quick (and taking his piece of cable with him!) :wah:

Apart from having to rearrange the furniture to cover up the holes they've munched in the carpet! :wah: they're pretty good buns! *grins*

So it's a new phase of my life now. My kids are teenagers and in college and don't really need me any more. I love teaching and am thoroughly enjoying it and I'm glad to be back here where it still feels like home. *sighs with contentment and puts feet up on the coffee table* :)

So how're all of you?

Are these bunnies capable of reproduction?

It's bright out, the sun keeps insisting on shining, I'm restricted to my room until winter gets into its stride. You, on the other hand, thrive in daylight, I hope you're making the most of it.

They're both in college now, those infants? I hope they're enjoying it.

Very nice to see you again Rapunzel and to catch up on what's happening in your house... grin.. Do you want a recipe for bunny stew? Just kidding. My daughter has two mini bunnies called Milou and Amelie.. dunno if they have been eating her rug. I think she did mention something about that... And lovely to see you too again, Theia!!!

I had a really weird Sunday. Beautiful sunny day and I got the ferry to Manly beach, took a book onto the sand, read for a while, then put my hat over my face and snoozed, my feet closest to the sea.... until the tide came in, and a wave wet me right up to my hair, but only kind of gently... my iPod and book remained dry. :sneaky:

Thanks pinkchick and Hi Spotalicious! :-4

No, the bunnies have all been neutered! Bunnies are hilariously funny, which many people just don't realise. If the alarm goes off and you don't jump out of bed, the buns will hop up onto the bed and nip your toes to wake you up! Or they nudge your nose with their nose so you open sleepy eyes to see this giant bunny face right before your eyes! :wah:

Sadly, many people keep bunnies in cages where they're cramped and bored and where their owners don't see the fun or intelligence or mischieviousness in them. :-1 Often their owners will turn them loose, thinking that they're just wild animals and they can cope in the wild, but sadly, bunnies raised in captivity have no idea of how to survive in the wild and will not know how to forage for food or how to protect themselves from predators! Often bunnies released into the wild will stay wherever you leave them until they starve to death or are killed by predators. Its heartbreakingly sad! :-1

There are thousands of bunnies in shelters who have been treated badly and who may never be able to be rehomed. Pet shops buy them for a few pounds or dollars and sell them aged 6 weeks when they're cute little balls of fluff. They should really stay with their mothers until they're at least 8 weeks old and preferably 10. Our buns cost about £15-£20 each to buy but over £300 in vets bills so far! Bunnies make fantastic pets but, sadly, so few people realise it! :(

So yes, we had them neutered to save the bunny population from exploding even more! Also, bunnies tend to suffer from cancer in their reproductive organs so removal can extend their lives. House bunnies can live up to 14 years, whereas caged and wild bunnies have a life expectancy of just 4 years!

Lol! I bet that's more than you ever wanted to know about the humble bun! hehe

Oh, and btw, our most mischievious bunny is called . . . . . Spot! hehehehehe

Truly!

Yes, Warwick and Chelsea are all grown up now! Warwick is 17 and 6'4"! Lol!

He's studying a computer course at college and is guaranteed a place on an advanced computer course after that. Then he will do an HND in Computer Studies and finally onto Uni to complete the course. Hopefully he'll stick it out.

Next year he will be learning how to write computer games and how to build a 'puter from scratch, which he's really looking forward to.

Chelsea is 15 and 5'8" tall (taller than me - OMG!) She'll be in college next year, she wants to study art. She's been in the Gifted Art programme for years - she's a Goat! LMAO! It stands for Gifted, Outstandingly Able & Talented! You'd think they'd be able to come up with a better mnemonic than that, wouldn't you? *chortle*

So why are you restricted to your room until winter arrives hunny bunny?

Do you have secret vampirical tendencies? Does your skin fry in sunlight?

You need to get a little sunshine, it's a good source of Vitamin D! *and that's a little lesson for Nomad too!* 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak! :D

I used to have dwarf bunnies many years ago, what breed(s) does your daughter have? I love the beautiful names she chose for them.

We have two black and white dutch bunnies and two blanc de hotot bunnies which are pure white but look as if they have thich black kohl around their eyes, a la Cleopatra! The kids each had a dutch bun and then they each had a blanc de hotot. Warwick is into Nintendo, so called his Link and Zelda. Chelsea called hers Starlight and Snowflake. Warwick's white bunny has a black spot on her butt, so her name very quickly got changed to Spot, so Chelsea's bunny then got called 'No Spot'! We're nothing if not imaginative! Lol!

Then 'No Spot's name changed to Baby because she was such a tiny little fluffball, a cute little baby bun! However, one year on and the greedy little oiks haven't stopped eating yet so I think we should change their name to sheep and cloud!!! :wah: Cos they're fat, white and fluffy!

It sounds like you had a gorgeous day in the sun. You must be starting to head towards summer but it sounds wonderfully warm already. If your weather keeps improving your Christmas will be a scorcher!

I'm glad your book and ipod stayed dry! One must keep one's priorities right, after all. :wah: Hope no sand, sea or suncream got into your wineglass either! ;)

How are your kids? Are they still in England or have they journeyed on?

Big hugs to you m'dear and a smack on the wrist for the bunny s.t.e.w. (sshhh!) gag! :D :yh_hugs

I'm not quite sure what kind of bunnies Romy has, Rapunzel - but here's a pic

Romy reckons hers bound out when she gets home from work like little dogs and follow her around her apartment. My son is still in London, now in Lambeth, but Romy's moved to Paris to MTV there and is having a ball.

It's chilly in Sydney. Winter here is mild compared to Canberra where is is icy, bleak and snowing in the hills (I'm going to ski in August!). But yesterday was blissful on the beach. A lot of kids were even swimming - and I nearly was.. grin. As for the wine glass - you know me too well :sneaky: Hugs to you too!

This is amazing. Ive thought of you at least ten times this past week. There is a woman here working in a little cafe from The Isle Of White. I told her all about you. So glad to hear your doing well... and the family also.
