The World Before Google
The World Before Google
I am curious by nature and have found Google to be one of the delights of my life in satisfying my curious nature. I watched a DVD on Abe Lincoln the other night and it talked about a speech that he made on his first visit to New York City when he was a candidate for president of the U.S. The story went on to say how the speech that he made before 1,500 people was responsible for his being elected. I did a Google Search and merely inserted "Lincoln's New York Speech" and the first hit gave me the complete speech. How could I have gotten this before Google? I'll bet that I couldn't get that speech by going to my local library. There isn't anything that I have not been able to find on Google and I continue to be amazed by the wealth of information that is available and the fact they they keep adding millions of pieces of data monthly.
Do You use Google daily as I do? What great finds have you made?

I'm the same way. If anything intrigues me it's great to be able to look it up right away!
I wish it was around when I was in school! :wah:

Out of the many search engines on the web google is the only one that gives you what your looking for every time. Have you ever tried some of those others and up pops stuff that is not even related to what you typed in the box ?

I use google to find lots of stuff when I research, to find out if anyone has written before on a particular subject.
Great for crock pot recipes too.

Gotta say I love Google also but for some reason Chris prefers Yahoo which I don't like at all.

Surely the answer is not to treat either source as guaranteed literal truth.

I love google for all the random questions that swirl round my mind like when dolphins sleep why dont they drown? No matter what question i type in there's a multitude of answers from a multitude of sources, its great. I especially enjoy the funny or bizarre answers.
As for the Jester / Spot question thing - i dont believe everything i read. The only thing for sure in life is that we will die, nothing else.
