Ripe Juicy Summer Fruit
Ripe Juicy Summer Fruit
My appetite changes through the seasons.
I rarely eat salad in the winter months but I crave it in summer.
Same with fruit.
For no other reason than I was thinking of fruit, my favorites in hot months are:
plums
peaches
mango
rasberries
tangerines
grapes

watermelon - watermelon love it
in our heat watermelon is a must & very reasonably priced, along with cantalope.
regular size seedless watermelon (not a small personal size) $1.00 a watermelon.
I'll buy 3-4 at a time, cut chunks into bowl & eat it all day long.
Great way to lose weight - lost @ 15 pounds
watermelon is the best fruit for your system
I also like to freeze grapes - very refreshing, summer staple watermelon...
Right now I can pick fresh tomatoes from my garden - delish..
Nothing better than that

Carla in our heat - yours & mine, very hot now
watermelon or all melons are the only way to stay hydrated in this extreme heat.
I really couldn't be without them.
as far as losing weight with the melons - it's a great body/system rinse.
It's 115 today

I just cut mine in half with a knife and break off a hunk. Then I take a fork and pick out the seeds and eat them.

well if we had no cocktail sticks in the house we would use a darning needle. The seeds are really hard to dig out.
Heres a pic
Apparently you should take a sharp, short knife with a very point end. Cut into the pome around the stem in a way that the bit of peel comes off looking like a spinning top. Keep peeling away teh pith (the white stuff) until you can start seeing the seeds underneath.
Once you see the seeds, you can see how they are laid out in five sections. Cut the peel along one section (you can peel it a bit like an orange) and try to wedge the pome open. It should break into its natural section. Now you simply need to pull the seeds off rubbing type action.
I prefer diggin with a needle or stick:D
