Does this sound anything like it:

Ice Water Pickles

cukes, celery and sliced onions

brine of 1 qt. vinegar to 1 qt. purified water

1 1/2 cups sugar and 1/2 cup pickling salt

Soak cukes 3 hours in ice water, drain. Cut cukes in lengthwise slices

pack inb sterilized glass jars, stalk of celery in center onions on top.

Make sufficient brine to cover, boil and pour over cukes. Seal.

Let me keep looking, there might be others in this book, this doesn't

quite sound like grammas, she probably didn't process them it was

all cold?!?!?!?

For every 1 gallon of cider vinegar use

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup of pickling salt

1 cup mustard seed

mix well and pour over pickles in jars and set in fridge. It usually takes about 4 weeks to cure.
