Doctor Complaints

Post by shelbell »

I had a 3:00 doctors appt today. They called at 2:00 and said they were running really far behind and they would have to reschedule me. I asked when, they said late December. How is it if I call that late to cancel, I get a late cancel fee of $40, yet they can cancel at anytime and I get nothing from it. :-5 I was all set and ready to go when I got the call. I traded doctors after that (it wasn't the first time this happened with this doctor) and I can get in in a month.

For them to reschedule your appointment for December after calling you one hour before your appointed time, is unacceptable. I would lodge a complaint with your county Medical Assoc. as well as writing a Private & Confidential note to the doctor letting him know what happened. Typically, he has nothing to do with the scheduling and I think would be upset with his office about this.

I totally agree with Lon. What if you were pregnant or had another illness to deal with. How unprofessional.

That's too bad, arthritis is not fun. My doctor is leaving his practice at the end of the year to open a sleep clinic, so I would have had to change docs anyway. My new doc is a lady I've seen for my :yh_shhhh female stuff anyway and she is a general practioner.

Maybe a new doctor is what you need...a new perspective on your problems. Hopefully a new doc can give you some much needed information.:)

First of all calling 45 minutes before your scheduled - unacceptable, as Lon said and do File your complaint. If insured, contact your Ins. Co., with the complaint - eliminate him from referral list. if your Dr was in a Association/Group - file all the way up the ladder.

It's not just the last minute - set back until Dec....? This is JULY.. I have a feeling something else is going on here. Either office forgot to call you earlier(days) - Dr went golfing or on vacation. or you were bumped for a friend - a number of reasons.

It's the insult to you & as if your issues are not as serious as Ms. Smith..

But December ? next week maybe, but months away. This doesn't make sense.

If you were bumped - no one else can be bumped until December?

I'd definately call the Office Manger & discuss the situation.

Something else is going on here - Having worked in the medical field/ Doctor's Offices for over 20

this doesn't happen & doesn't make sense to me.

Get your records from the Dr. who is no longer practicing

all x-rays, everything. You are entitled to your records or a copy of them.

essential for the new Dr. absolutely.

Well Shel, sorry this happened -

Lon - great suggestions

Lets all hope this isn't too serious

I've known for quite sometime that my doc would be leaving sometime once he got his headache (I know I said sleep clinic before but I mispoke) clinic going. I just found out today that it's set for the end of the year. I have a feeling that they told me December because they want patients have time to pick a new doctor. I will miss my doc, he is awesome, but what they put me thru just isn't right. They probably wanted to get me out of there ASAP because of all my health issues and it takes awhile just to go thru all of my meds and conditions. In my PPO network all the systems share all the info and the new doc will have access to all my records, I've seen her a few times, and she relocated to an office that's actually closer to home.

I will follow up on this because of how the whole situation was handled. Thanks for all the suggestions!! :)

Your welcome. I know how very fortunate I am...I'm 44 and my mom will be 67 in a few days. My grandma is still around too (moms mom) and she is 90. I hope I get their longevity genes. My g-grandma was 92. :-4
