Internet charges by the minute?...

Post by K.Snyder »

I've heard that most internet service providers were going to start charging by the minute...I've googled around but haven't really come across anything with any credibility...

Anyone heard of this or know anything about this?...

I would be shocked to learn this was true. It would be as if the industry dialed the Way Back Machine to 1989.

I heard the same thing a couple of weeks ago KS, but nothing since as I can't believe they would do it. If I remember correctly it was the cable companies that were talking about it i.e. Cox, Time Warner.

I haven't heard that, but there has been talk of charging by the amount of data transfer and doing away with unlimited amounts of downloading like movies, music etc and charging by the amount of downloading each month.

New Zealand already has been doing this and has several plans with different monthly charges based on how much you download. Exceed that amount and there is a additional charge.

It all doesn't necessarily seem as if it would be too complex to accomplish...It would be the exact same thing as the plans the phone companies give out...Perhaps having a set monthly amount charged and then individuals have to pay for extra minutes when they go over their already fixed plan...

I wouldn't put it past them one bit...
