Maybe Ned Kelly?
Edward "Ned" Kelly (3 June 1855 – 11 November 1880) was an Australian bushranger, and, to some, a folk hero for his defiance of the colonial authorities. Kelly was born in Victoria to an Irish convict father, and as a young man he clashed with the police. Following an incident at his home in 1878, police parties searched for him in the bush. After he murdered three policemen, the colony proclaimed Kelly and his gang wanted outlaws. A final violent confrontation with police took place at Glenrowan. Kelly, dressed in home-made plate metal armour and helmet, was captured and sent to trial. He was hanged for multiple murder at Melbourne jail in 1880. His daring and notoriety made him an iconic figure in Australian history, folk lore, literature, art and film.
On March 9 2008, it was claimed that Kelly's burial site had been found by Australian scientists.[1]

What about hollywood having an australian midget (mel Gibson) playing a 6 foot plus scottish hero with the irish army as extras and filmimg it in ireland cos they couldn't stand the midges and the weather?

Good Job!
We have it on video and I still watch it occasinally. Great story line. beautifully done sound track.
Ever see this flick?
I have enjoyable film.
I know you know robin hood was fictional. However, ned kelly is not fictional. I'm sorry i shluld have perhaps directed the comment at fuzzy butt when he answered you.
Oh lots!!! Ned Kelly is the most famous but you'd be surprised to learn we had a negroe bushranger as well, he came out here as a convict like the rest. Yep africans and afghans and chinese have a role in our history as well, a big role.
OK I'm beimg pedantic but Robin hood played no part in our histiry other than as a llegend.
Basically I think Robin Hood is fair game -(Men in tights was funny)-and I have no objection to historical films, in fact I rather enjoy them, but I find it irritating when they change actual events. Like the film U571 for instance. It's a load of rubbish but many seeing it because it is based on a true event think that it portrays what actually happened. Arguably it's an insult to those who were killed in the real events.

Here, Jester - perhaps this will fix the problem for you.Jonas Armstrong, who plays Robin Hood in the BBC's remake of the classic tale, is to leave the show at the end of the third series.
The 27-year-old, who is currently filming in Budapest, said playing Robin Hood was an "incredible experience" but he was looking for "new challenges".
