R.X. coupons

Post by southern yankee »

My hubby is on serveral meds. Pretty $$. He asked our DR. if he could have some coupons. she offered him some. which he used. Well for the next month he called the drug. companies.Well what he found out about the coupons was SAD. Of course he could get more because he had insurance. People who did not have insurance and have to pay out of pocket (cash) did not qualify. If they had any Gov. asst. they were also SCREWED. So as you can see this is only for THE HAVES, NOT THE HAVE NOTS!! What else is new????:(

Sometimes physicians have samples of particular meds that patients take. Ask, the next time, if they have any samples in their office of the meds he takes. Usually if they do, they give them to you.

This is really sad...the people that need the help the most don't get it. I've got insurance right now, but that will end soon, and I take 18 different meds a day...I'm going to be screwed at the end of the year.:(

My hubby has short-term disabilty insurance at work, but it only covers accidents, not sickness. He does not get sick leave at work, so he was counting on that for bills.

So we're screwed as well.

If it looks like he'll be out of work for a year or more total, then have him apply for social security disability. It's not much but it does help.

You can also go online for the specific drug and get coupons that way as well. I have received several that are for a free fill of my specific medicine. Some are for $10.00 off. Every little bit helps.

one thing i did say also. when he asked what were people to do that could not receive these coupons? The rep said to tell the Dr to switch you to something less pricey. He said how about if it did not work as well?? The rep did not ANSWER.:(

Yes Generic verses name brand drugs can be a problem sometime. I have 2 medications I take that are name brands as the generic didn't work right for me. Most of the time Generic brands are excellent, most of the timeand cost pennies compared to name brands. :-5

Generic brands in lieu of brand names also cuts the cost drastically! While I was still working, my insurance did not cover my wife's script, generic or not. The entire cost came out of my own pocket. So I heard about Canadian pharmacys, I searched on line & found "Canada Rx", that would mail brand name scripts she needed at a fraction of the cost here in USA. It's worth a look. Good luck.
