Rivers flood. Look for higher ground. Around here much riverside land is leased. You own the cabin but not the land. Look for good roads or lanes in.

i looked on the internet and i saw you can buy a log cabin in canada for around $30 000 that is on a river with a large chuck of land that would suite me just fine

my daughter says there are places in the USA that are fairly cheap too any one got any info

and is it the kinda place you would want to live in :):)

You can get a tent in the Mojave Desert real cheap, lots of space, warm weather, no noisy neighbors.

if the river floods i could have a houseboat and a cabin in one :wah::wah:

I window shop the real estate ads for my area a lot, just in case my lottery numbers come through. I tend to look for small farms or acreages. Some are priced reasonable.

You don't want to buy the farm... isn't that an old pilot's euphemism for crashing and dying? :-2

There are some nice places like that around here, but... not very cheap.

Believe me you don't want a cabin in Canada :wah: Unless, you like blizzards and ice storms durning the winter months. I am 45 minutes from Canada in upstate NY or as well call it the "North Country". Hubby and I bought a brand new 6,000 square foot log cabin on 13 acres in the woods. The cabin has 7 bedrooms, 3 full, and 1 half bath. Downstairs is a brand new 2 bedroom apartment. We bought 3 years ago for $180, 000. Love the peace and quiet but yet we are a short drive to a major city where we can shop. This same house where I came from would have been up around the $500,000 mark minus the woods :wah:

Buy a caravan instead then you can have not quite a log cabin but with inside toilets and showers, central heating and tv's and things and stay where you like and if you get fed up you just go home. People are so nice, especially when you're towing making friendly two fingered gestures as they pass you and pulling funny faces while shouting friendly greetings.

That's the E ticket!! There are even old ghost towns in the west where RV'ers gather every year to party together.
