What song from a Film has a lasting memory on you and why?

Will start with Somewhere Over The Rainbow from The Wizard of Oz.My late mothers favorite song.....she always sung it and had a sad life and on her tombstone I had written "At Last You Have Found Your Rainbow".I recorded it on a CD I did and funny enough the producer of it told me she liked me singing that one the best........must be because it means so so much to me;)

Also loved the film Funny Girl and saw it over and over and over etc lol....Just loved Streisand singing "My Man".........just blew me away her singing that

The background score is what impresses me the most in a film. Not any particular song, but sequences of music that form the backdrop for the whole movie. Usually very talented composers are heard again and again in these movies.

Dances with Wolves (my favorite background, it is beautiful)

Born Free (very delightful score, tells the whole story)

Star Wars (good music to set the pace of action)

Superman (would he fly as cool, without that music!)

Oh, I could make a lengthy list

Movies like this, I remember the scores forever, and I usually have the movie on to listen to the music.

If it is a musical, I go with the oldies-King and I, Oklahoma, Music Man, Sound of Music, lots of them. Phantom of the Opera was pretty good, Webber is very good. Very difficult music to play, he caters to multiple flats for the singers range. I am shuddering at having to play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat again this school year, it is a large and difficult score to play. You'd think getting that coat once was enough! :wah:

Great thread Carol:-4....lots of good memories. Did I ever hear you sing that song you've written, "At last you've found your memory?" do you have a copy or the words....so sweet:-6

My favorite songs are.....

"To sir with love" sung by Lulu. I loved this movie because I thought it was a fabulous movie. For a teacher to touch their students in such a loving and positive ways is so ace:-4

actually sing To Sir With Love Kathy.....always loved that song so much.The Film was made where I come from and parts of Wapping that was in the film it is very upmarket now......I was there revisiting the area a few months back and put some pictures up.Loved that film so much.....the type I could watch over and over.....memories.....ahhhhhh:-4

When I was very young........very lol....I saw Breakfast At Tiffanys and fell for George Peppard hook, line and sinker......oh boy was he a dish then:-4 anyway Moon River then became "our" song:-4ok he never knew that but it didn't matter as if he would have known I would have been his Audrey Hepburn:-4

I am always singing "Chattanooga Choo Choo" & humming "In the mood".

I love to watch The Glenn Miller story when I am home alone.

Our parents loved this music & it rubbed off.:-4:-6

Kathy Ellen and Carolly, I too loved "To Sir with Love." I had to say that too. When Lulu sings, I just well up. Such a good movie.

I guess one of mine would be from Fried Green Tomatoes, "A Charge to Keep I Have." They did it in "Old Negro Spiritual" style and I found it very haunting...very moving.

I hum it often.Great film that Lon and one I remember so well.I saw it with the first love of my life.We saw it in the West End......he was a policeman and still on probation and I had to let him go because of his job knowing he had to put more time and thoughts into his work if he was to make it in the job.As the song goes....What I Did For Love from another film, I did indeed do.....months of regrets but hopefully he done well in his job and like me is happy in a great relationship all these years later.If by the slightest chance he is reading this.....Hi there Dave, was it really all those years ago and hope lifes been good to you;)Thanks Lon for bringing back those memories:)

He scored The Alamo and I still can't hear the theme without remembering the effect it has in the closing minutes.

I'm with you on this, Chonsi. If you ever watched "Johnny Belinda" with Jane Wyman, the background music is so moving. Listen for it when you get a chance. One of my favorite movies.

The first song I ever sung infront of anybody I remember being As Long As He Needs Me and also the show Oliver holds some very special memory's to me as I have explained in the past and for what reason.............so the Film means so much to me:-4

I'm with you on this, Chonsi. If you ever watched "Johnny Belinda" with Jane Wyman, the background music is so moving. Listen for it when you get a chance. One of my favorite movies.Johnny Belinda...........wow remember me mum taking me to see that as a child......you cant beat the old uns thats for sure;)
