Candidates From the Bottom of the Barrel
Congress has an approval rating of 18% yet both candidates for President are from Congress and now they've added a VP candidate from the same failed organization. Do they really think the voters should be happy with such a thing? Do they think we are stupid?
It's like selecting the CEO of a company that needs strong leadership from the Board of Directors of a failed company.

It cracks me up for Republicans to destroy the government, demonize the dissenting voices, spend and borrow money like there's an infinite supply, then blame Democrats for the low ratings. Really unbelievable. Republicans controlled congress for 6 years and have crippled it.
But if you recall, the last election was a bloodbath for Republicans. Expect the same this cycle again. Only part of the Republicans were up for reelection in 2006. The final reckoning will come in 2008.
Still in it's current state, congress is broken. Most every piece of legislation that the voters wanted (scaling back the Iraq war, etc) have been vetoed. VETOED?! And there's not enough democrats to have a 2/3 majority to override Bush's vetoes. Democrats only gained a razor thin majority, so nothing new has been accomplished or can be accomplished. It's completely FUBAR.
Also, we might ask, if Congress is doing such a bad job, who are the morons that elected these people? Ultimately, the American people only have a rating, as high as the lowest rating of the elected government. Fortunately, we'll all be voting again in this election cycle, over a barrage of idiotic and irrelevant factors ... only to blame the morons we hire for doing a bad job.

Blame the Republicans if you like. Blaming is just more of the same old garbage that got us where we are.
One thing certain in the whole mess is that there isn't a leader in Congress with the ability to get the others to follow. If there was they could get a 2/3 majority. If any of the folks wanting to be President or VP had been able to move Congress left or right they would be intersting but they weren't able and they aren't interesting.
What's wrong with the electorate? Why are we sending these jokers to do Congress? Could it be the people going to the poles aren't capable of voting? Maybe there should be a qualifying question before each item on the ballot. Should someone be allowed to vote for someone if they don't even know who the incumbent is? Should people who have no interest in voting be recruited to vote?

It's hard to actually fulfill the voter's will, when half of congress takes their orders from Bush, half from the voters. There is no basic framework for a dialog to even take place ... since both sides are talking past one another. What people want, and what Bush wants are two different things, and Bush has "agreed to disagree." He's the decider, remember/ Compromise is a sign of weakness, in his mind.
As far as the electorate goes. the problem is that we've allowed ourselves to be manipulated by fear. I honestly don't think it takes a genius to see what's wrong with the country. Anyone who's been awake during the last eight years can see what a disaster it has been. The problem is that people vote, through manipulation of fear, only to be perpetually controlled.

Never mind. If you want to cheer yourself up look at the twits we elect. We'll see your idiots and raise you a few morons. When the monster loony party start seeming like a good protest vote you need to worry.

Use your eyeballs. When did I say that?
Discussing an issue with someone who has flawless vision is pointless. I'll just read your posts and become more informed.

Here are some facts:
1. Republicans essentially took control of all three branches of government in 2000.
2. Then they ran it into the ground.
3. Now they (including you) try to share the accountability with both parties.
I suppose you will be puzzled, as to why in next election cycle, the Republicans will suffer another blood bath. They deserve it.

Yup------I do think that they believe the electorate is stupid, and naive as well. I did not like any of the candidates in the last Presidential Election and this time it's the same story.

I don't think it's so much we as voters don't know how to vote. We listen to the candidates give their spiel of what they will do when they get to congress. We elect them and wait to see the changes. However we always forget the lobbyist are there waiting to entice them to do their bidding. I say kick the lobbyist and other big business out Washington, and let the government serve the people, not big business.

Kick out the lobbyist for business labor, special interest groups and governmental agencies. Do away with constituent services and only allow attorneys to be seated in the Judiciary.
