A New Browser

Post by Lon »

I downloaded the new Google Chrome browser after reading about it in the paper this morning. I now have three browsers on my laptop to compare with one another. I like Mozilla Firefox better than IE and will try Google for a while and compare. So far ---------I like it----------I like it.

What say you? Have you tried it?

I noticed that Chrome existed this morning on the google homepage. I haven't downloaded it yet. My first thought was that it is likely to be better than Firefox and Firefox at its worst is still better than IE

Haven't tried it Lon. I just installed Opera 9.5 last night. I'm getting used to it and I will probably try Chrome in the near future. Are there any particular things you really like about it? I'd be interested to hear. :)

Once its is fully released sure I will, though I don't like using things when they are still in the testing phase. I use safari on the mac of course, and its excellent like most apple programs. I also use firefox on the lap top as it is much better than IE in my opinion. Let us know how you get on with it anyways.

It's interesting that Google have only produced a Microsoft-compatible version so far, I think part of their reason for going along that software-alternative route is competitive.

In the long term it'll put their ability to support their own site into their own hands too and I can see why they'd want to. We've seen browser-specific coding in the past though and it was very retrograde when it happened, it was Microsoft who triggered that the first time.

I've not found any difficulty with any combination. I'm sure it's fine. There were problems back around 1998 when the browser war went ballistic and Microsoft got nasty but that all got sorted.

I saw the google guy (say that 3 times fast) on tv touting Chrome but all I remember is that his lips were moving.

Why do I want to download more stuff onto my pc ?

What I really want to do is erase everything and start fresh with minimal pc experiences to confound myself with.
