Do You Believe in Omens?

Post by Hope6 »

Anyone who read my 4 leaf clover thread a while back, knows i've had experiences with signs before!

today something happened and i don't know what to think about it!

i have heard it said that young children have a intuition about things, and we have all these hurricanes looming around now! Hanna, Ike and Josephine!

Jacob has these magnetic alphabets that stick to the frig, well he likes to carry them around, he picked 3 and carried them into the living room and layed them on the table, i didn't pay any attention at the time, but when i went to get them later i noticed which ones he had put there and they spelled IKE!!!

Hope, I wouldn't read too much into it, but on the other hand, does it run in your family?

i believe in intuition too, i think that little voice we have sometimes is God's way of warning us about things, and we should always listen to our intuitions!

We may have more in common than you think Hope. It runs in my family too. Mom's side. Women have and this is just my opinion, more in depth minds and can see things more clearly than men and I truely believe we are can see into the past.

Whenever I disembowel a chicken I check to see what it's warning me about. Today is apparently an auspicious day to encourage other FG haruspices to come out of the closet.

People who, whenever they disembowel a chicken, check to see what it's warning them about.

I could run an online course on FG if there's enough interest, according to today's entrails.

Actually i've never known anybody who does that, and i don't plan to be disemboweling chickens any time soon, so i don't think a course would do me any good. :wah::wah::wah:

I expect under that gruff exterior there's a wood nymph trying to get out, that's why.

Out of interest, how do people distinguish between an omen and a coincidence that can be interpreted as significant?

Omens are a form of divination in that an external mind - a divinity - is given as the reason the omen was presented. Other than being open to recognising them when they happen, omens are a passive form of divination in that the recipient hasn't set things up for the divinity to communicate.

Some people prefer a more active role.

Some people get omens for their own use, some pass them on in which case they're soothsayers.

I wish I had a better idea of what "believe in" means in the thread title.

My cousin had a horrible feeling that she was gonna be in a car accident, she just had this terrible feeling that something was gonna happen to that car!

she started being very careful when driving it to make sure nothing happened, this went on for a while, then one day she parked it and got out at the field, (they are tobacco farmers too), and a tractor got away from somebody and took off across the field and ran over the car! It was totaled!

I remember walking across my high school field and out of nowhere I had a voice in my head saying my uncle Jack had died. This was around 11:am in the morning.

When I got home, my mom informed me that my uncle Jack died around 11am that morning. I always loved him and he was a fun guy.
