Ever Been in a Hurricane?

Post by qsducks »

Just looking at the weather channel tonight and following T.S. Hanna and we are in the path.

Back in 1999? we got hit with Hurricane Floyd and lucked out as we had a sump pump working overtime in the basement, but the town next to me was really hit hard and people lost their homes. A friend here on the FG was a victim of Floyd and has since moved to another state. What a mess that was. So, does anyone have stories of bad or not so bad hurricane experiences.

No can't say I have. The big danger here is FIRES which the worst time of year for them in San Diego is September and October due to the Santa Ana Winds. :-6

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

Oh just great, now I'm looking at the Weather channel and they are saying we "might lose power" tomorrow. My hubby calls the weather channel "The scare the Sh*t out of people channel". Now I know why:wah:

The wind is always a pain. I guess I'll have to move my truck but my sump pump will be doing major work.

Yes. Elena and a dwindling Andrew after it blew up the west coast from Miami.

I was doing insurance restoration work at the time so I was involved in rebuilding damaged homes and businesses. Nasty work.

Looks like IKE could hit around Southern Yankee again, it's one of the possibilities. That would be so sad for her...this one is worse than Gustav.

I feel for her. They still haven't gotten electricity in half of Lousiana and now they have to vacate again. Can you imagine. And as far as T.S. Hanna, she came and peed and blew some leaves out of the trees, but we had it mild.

I am back on line after Gustav. we were out of lights and water for 5 days. we just got back the Internet this afternoon. We have had damage. in fear of more. a VERY LARGE TREE. is up rooted and wanting to fall on us. If IKE comes that will be it for our home. We have filed with FEMA (Ha Ha) But since the tree is on PRIVATE PROPERETY, no one will help. I have called FEMA, Sen. Vitter, and Gov. Jendal. NOTHING. The tree is too large for us to remove safely. This is not my first RODEO. This is my 5Th. the first with TRUE DAMAGE. The area we are in the insurance is$$$$$. Plus hard to get on a mobile home. But Hubby and i are well and thank God, alive.
