I'm really, really, really annoyed with my daughter at the moment.
She's done a bloody stupid thing that she's been warned about before and now I've flown off the handle, sent her to bed, banned her from the computer until hell freezes over or we all get sucked into a black hole.
I need chocolate and we don't have any........................
someone send Jimbo round, I need to kick a dumb animal :sneaky:

My thoughts are with you.
Our grandson is going through the 15 yr old stage ,his sister is just catching up to him.
Their MUm, our daughter is complaining to me about how she was never like that  She seems to have forgotten a few years there.:wah:
You will get there,I promise.

At least I'm onto the little scams they try to pull. They aren't very smart in that department yet. Oh, I love it though, they won't talk to the older 18 yr old who has been through it all and get pointers, etc.:wah: for now anyway:wah:

I always tell people that I thank God that he saved my youngest daughter (16) for last. The 2 other girls, 20 & 24, were absolute hell during their teenage years. My youngest is so smart, beautiful, has self confidence, makes great decision, has goals, and has my common sense. She can be a little demanding at times, and is a little spoiled, but is still a great kid. At 16, she still comes to me and tells me about everything going on in her life. I think that is amazing, just like her. :-4:-4

Isn't it amazing that one evening your beatiful heathly well manned boy/girl child goes off to dream land ,, but the next morning a total staranger that back talks you rudely lets you to understand how really dumb you are and trys for your sake to enlighten you as to how wonderfully smart they have become ? all I could do when each of those strangers appeared at my breakfast table was look really confussed while asking something like " who are you and what did you do with my real kid" ?:-5:-5

Nope , no promises , but, you get all the 'pay back' you have ever dreamed about when you get to watch your children dealing with their children :wah::wah:

The one thing I've found out is that they just want someone to listen to them, without giving advice. I will ask questions of my daughter like "what do you think you should do next about that now" "how do you feel about that" "so, what do you think the next step should be"? I think it really helps her when she stops to think about things, then can verbalize what she thinks is the best reaction to a situation. She makes really smart decisions, and choses good kids as friends. She has never been in trouble at school, and rarely needs a grounding. She knows when I tell her to back off, she will cuz she knows I'll follow thru with a punishment if she doesn't. :-4:-4

You are so right on the money , it seems that when a kid voices out loud their questions or concerns and is given the chance to 'hear what they are 'thinking' they can come to a good desision on their own , yes sometimes because they are young and lack the experence of 'life' ,they do need a helping hand or some advise .
when a kid can make desions that work for both themselves and the adult in their lives it makes for a very confident kid and a real heathly happy homelife., that little stranger I spoke of figured out pretty quick that it wasn't mom who had 'changed' and figured out too that they had some of the same 'rules' as always but as they matured so did the rules 'relax' . or change to meet the needs of the kid growing up .

Hang in there Duckie. Mine all became monsters of one kind or another at those ages. We lived a total soap opera, never knew what was going to happen next, one ran off, one ended up in hospital with acute alcohol poisoning, one spun a car and wrote it off. They shouted. They withdrew. They fought me and their dad. They suffered agonies of self doubt and abject misery, wept on my shoulder or in a dark corner. And somehow survived. At their age I was the same. By 17, they and their friends were human again. By twenty they had become my best friends, supporting each other, responsible, happy.
All I can say is that it's the early years when you give them boundaries, teach them respect. Show them you love them. Then you can only hang onto the rollercoaster and just keep loving them and hoping it'll all work out. Eventually. :sneaky:

Good grief Nomie - don't start giving ideas!!!!
Seriously, she's a good girl, not too moody or stroppy and usually good fun to have around. But occasionally she switches off when I tell her not to do something and then does it anyway. I don't stop her doing much - I don't need to, but sometimes.............:-5
Her half-sisters are 23 & 25, oldest was a nightmare - you name it she probably did it (except for setting cats on fire!). At their age you'd expect them to be independent but no, frequently we here 'Dad I need help with....'
Thank goodness for grandchildren - feed them junk, wind them up and hand them back.

this what a very dear friend of mine told me once. "at the age of 13 a alien ship comes. picks up your child. and leaves this THING. That gives you grey hair and ulcers. Then and about 21 or 22. the ship return with your adult child." I agree on what my friend said. I think that is why i only had one child:wah:

Yes you are so right Pam. The oldest is 18 and I am very proud of her for the stuff that happened the other day regarding college. She grew up that day right in front of my eyes because she was pushed by hubby & myself to not give up and it wasn't high school anymore. She passed by me in thought. It was a "Wow" moment.

talk about teenage horror stories. my older brother has teenage grandchildren. well he went out of the country for awhile. his 2 granddaughters decided to have a BIG PARTY. Well. the house was ransacked. the 2 cars were stolen and damaged. their family dog became very ill. for 3 or 4 days. he was given drugs. Kids today are much different then the kids who grew up in the 60's and 70's. Would have never thought of doing anything like that. I wouldn't here if i DID!!

Over in New Jersey about 2 yrs ago now, teens invaded a house and did so much damage. Of course, their "so called resonsible parents" all lawyered up and they got away with it. And the kicker is the judge went with the flow. A complete disgrace.
After that, hubs & I had a talk with our children and drummed into their heads that "no, if your caught doing that kind of thing we won't be getting a lawyer and YOU will be paying the price".

My sister did that! My parents owned a Bed & Breakfast. They went away for a weekend leaving her alone with her friend because she begged them and promised to behave. Two 16-year-olds! Duh! Instead she had the mother of all parties, no bouncers, party was crashed by a load of older blokes. They smashed all the stained glass windows, set fire to guests mattresses, stole money from the rooms. The Police were called several times and eventually broke the party up. When the parents came home and shouted at her she ran away from home. The parents were so worried they forgave her everything, which is understandable but taught her nothing and helped her to become the deceitful toerag she now is!
My kids are 15 & 17 and are lovely. We talk about everything and they've never caused me worry or upset. People often comment on what lovely kids they are. I'm blessed. (Sorry guys! Rapper ducks, runs and hides.)

You're lucky, but they won't be, unless they change. Because most people don't grow up they'll be taken the **** out of all their lives if they don't change (I'm typing from experience here)

I'm too compassionate to be an utter bastard.
Too self respecting to be a caring idiot.
Too much pride to give up the self respect.
And not willing to take the rap for a lack of compassion.
Where does this leave me? Nowhere. What does this leave me? Nothing. Who does this leave me? Noone.
