Bare Mommy

For those of you who read my previous post and had a different view on public displays of the practice of ones religion, I have another one for you.

I am sitting in a restaurant trying to have lunch and a pregnant woman is standing very nearby. Mind you I have nothing against pregnant women, in fact I find them quite attractive¦but not when their bare and considerable bellies are staring me in the face. :-3

I remember when my wife first became pregnant many years ago and I delighted in buying her maternity clothes, they were attractive and they covered her appropriately. Today it seems many pregnant women are more comfortable with the fat guy approach.

Forget the maternity clothes simply pull your pants down as low a possible and let your belly hang over, but to make the outfit complete the top must be sufficiently short so that the bare belly is fully exposed. :-2:-2

I have nothing against a women’s bare belly (or any other part for that matter), but there is a time and place for everything and I am old fashioned enough to draw the limit at a bare anything sitting next to me while I am eating and I still like the idea of a pregnant women dressed (all the time) in attractive maternity clothes.

Wow! I've been pg four times and never let it hang out. I shopped around for comfy clothes but never wore a bikini on the beach.

It's attractive if you wear the right clothes, but going out and showing the world your pg with nothing to cover your bellie? Please. And I'm sure these women don't mind if total stranger's touch thier bellies? I'd cut your hand off.

tis what I meant, to wear the right clothes, hate to see those bare bellies......are they advertising?

Probs the worst maternity shirt I've ever seen and never wore was "Under Construction".

I find it unattractive too, but QUINN, I am curious. If it were a svelte young thing showing off her navel ring or whatever would you still feel the same way? Why do you object to pregnant women showing off? I have my own opinion on this but I just wondered what yours was.

I love to see pregnant women,they glow.

Although I don't think I ever glowed I was just sick

I don't like to see the bare baby bump though.

I svelte young thing? I may take a quick second look (but I still don't want anything bare near my food), but if there is a ring or other metal object anywhere or even a tatoo, that's enough to turn me back to my bowl of chili real quick.

I'm (only slightly) torn on this. I don't subscribe to the "pregnancy is beautiful" camp like a lot do and I think pregnant middles should be covered up. But then again....I think all middles should be covered unless you're wearing a swimsuit or it's super hot outside. Yet then again (heh heh) I think it's discriminatory to think it's okay for skinny girls and not other women, including pregnant ones. I've even heard people say they're against it because it advertises the fact that woman has been intimate with someone. That's going too far for me though. But anyway, thanks for your answer. Was just curious.

I find pregnant women attractive as well and that includes her bare belly and all!!!...

Actually I find it a bit selfish to want or expect others to conform to the preferences of others when said ideologies does not harm anyone else in any way...

I totally agree with you Quinn and with everyone here.

I feel people should have the right to do as they please (so long as its legal) and wear what they want, but I also think that it looks horrible seeing huge pregnant tums. I also hate larger women wearing muffin tops to expose their midrifts. I dont want to see big tums and wish they'd cover up. I also don't like larger women wearing trousers as I think they look awful in them. In the school where I work we seem to have either skinny women or women built like a tank! Most of them wear trousers which is convenient but they usually wear leggings which stretch over their huge derrieres and which, I think, look horrible. (And if you're interested, I'm of the cuddly variety and I wear ankle-length skirts and long tops- a closet hippy! Lol!)

But back to the pregnant women, I would think they should cover up for safety. Whilst baby is nicely padded you should also keep him warm, even just a t-shirt helps protect him. And what if you're sitting down and someone walks past with hot coffee and spills it on your tum? A t-shirt can be whipped away from the skin or even yanked off. Hot coffee straight on your bump would scald you and shock the poor baby causing horrendous shock to him! He's developing - you could cause any type of damage to him even mental or physical depending on which point he is at in his developmental stage.

to me ... and i am no expert on the subject ... pregnancy is probably the most natural condition in the world ... i mean most every single one of us was formerly inside a pregnant lady's uterus ... nothing rocket scientist about that ... whether the distended belly is covered are uncovered ... we all know that a foetus is growing inside it ... if you are in any way offended at the sight of the uncovered belly of the pregnant lady seated beside .. opposite or behind you ... then don't look at it ... qed ...

personally the fat beer belly hanging over the pants and peeking beneath the tight tee shirt of many of these ladies partners offends me ...

I say its uncomfortable enough being pregnant, if the mum to be is happy to show off her stretch marks and growing belly, let em, not harming no one.

I personally wouldn't of done it and think pregnant ladies look cute in dungarees etc...

We worry to much about what others are wearing, when its their choice. I say let people be whoever they want to be, were only here once, lets live our life the way we see fit.

I have to agree ...........sorry but I can never understand women who are proud to show off their belly's while pregnant.Of course they may be making some sort of statement and is their choice of course what they wear.All I can say is what I feel when I see them dressed like it and just think when I look.........do you realise how much nicer you would look covered up......but there again thats only my opinion.....guess its abit like men in tiny trunks showing it all off...........give me a well dressed one any day;)

I have to agree with the majority here, a preggo belly loks so much nicer under cover of a top that covers . I think the first time I 'seen'

this new un covered belly fashion statement was in a hollywood rag mag,

I was preggo 3 times and could'nt imagine going out of the house with that huge belly un covered . I can remember 'bumping' into people accidently and being embrassed 'not of the baby' but just cuz it seemed I took up all of 'my space' and some of theirs at times

I couldn't imagine not having a cover between me and them ever.

I believe we can thank "Demi Moore" for starting the showing of the baby bump, after she provocativly "posed naked" on the cover of Vanity Fairs magazine! She actually was so beautiful wearing a smile, with just her arm covering her ample assets, and the baby bump totally in view! It seemed after that, many other pregnant celebs starting dressing by showing their baby bumps. And walla, now many pregnant moms all over, are just following what they see the masses doing!

well i can say the one time in my life that i truly felt beautiful was when i was pregnant! everyone talked about what a glow i had, i guess that could have been the pure joy coming from me at the fact of finally being pregnant after all those years of trying , i don't know.

but one thing i would not do is wear something that showed my tummy!

although i was pretty lucky in that respect, i didn't have the first stretch mark! :wah:

call me an old fashioned girl, but i didn't even wear anything that was tight fitting to show my tummy at all! so many of the maternity clothes are so clingy that i just went to the plus size section and got larger sizes of regular clothes!

It doesn't bother me as long as they still have an innie, when the innie turns into an outtie it becomes another appendage that should be covered.
