There was this really smart sheep down in Mexico who knew how to make butter and buttermilk.

One night she sneaked across the border and got a job working for a farmer, who set up a roadside stand and told her to try to sell the stuff. Unfortunately traffic was very heavy and the sight of this sheep making butter and buttermilk was so distracting that naturally there was an accident.

The police investigated and issued the farmer a citation for attempting to make an illegal ewe churn on a busy highway.:D

An illegal ewe churn... oh dear dear me!!! I think we will have to refrigerate Chezzie now.

The Canberra Floriade was awesome yesterday. Lovely flowers, this year in patterns celebrating Aussie films. And there was ice on the ground. Afterwards, we drove home to Sydney, where it is going to be 31 degrees today. What a difference 3 hours drive can make. I might have to get in the fridge with Chezzie. What about you, Odie? Do you prefer to chill a bit, or spread yourself?

Carla - you're a Senior Moderator, aren't you? You have the POWER to enforce margarine, zap all butter with or without cholesterol reducing plant sterols and melt down into lard anyone who dares to reopen this sorry excuse for a meaningful thread.

As self-appointed, unhonorary spokesperson for the great unwashed non-mods, anti-mods, a-mods, modless, and generally ag-mod-stick - plebs in Forum Garden - I hereby pronounce on the ancient vexed question re the refrigeration of butter. And let this be an end, once and for all, to this unseemly debate.

Fridges are for chilling

Revenge and oysters are dishes best served cold

Therefore forget the butter and keep the rest of the fridge space for the champagne

Do mods have power? I guess it depends on how you define power!

Can they zap the refrigeratorly-incorrect?

Can they turn us proles from dairy fed plumpness to butterly-challenged, bitter and twisted has-beens?

Can they quash scholarly debate using only a grim smile and the Vivienne Westwood fashion rules?

Can they confiscate all not properly chilled champers?

Can they comprehend that some folks don't have cake, but must chow down on ryvita?

Can they run on forever?

Having read my own list, I'm now too distressed to answer the obvious... so I will just sit in the corner singing the blues...

Woke up dis morning - with buttery hair

I done woke up dis morning - melted stuff everywhere

You should see me shoes

I got de ole yellow blues

In Australia, a sandwich is invariably smeared with butter or a butter substitute (refrigerated or not) before any other filling is added.

:D

Urban legend has it that this (not vegemite) is what gives Aussies our goddess like glow, and general moral superiority.

I have high cholesterol so I can't eat butter because it'll clog my arteries.

But I can't eat margarine because the Polly Whats-r-name fats will clog my arteries.

I need to mull this over with a piece of toast.

How come when in France or Spain (usually hot countries) their milk in shops is not even in the fridge?

That always freaks me out.

Is it because it is vacuumed packed and therefore will not go off? Or is it something else?

Oh yes, I do take fish oil too. I got one kind that I hated account I could taste it all day after. Now I get the kind that has a slow dissolve case. I take the generic of Zocor per doctors orders. I eat oatmeal quite a lot too. I read it is good for that but not the instant kind so I use regular oatmeal and add raisins. Sometimes cinnamon.

Actually having fish is my favourite - mackerel, herrings, or similar. Oatmeal as oatmeal biscuits, or porridge - although porridge made with oatmeal tends to lumps, to be on the safe side use rolled oats. Don't put salt in it!
