Wall Street Bailout Plan?

Post by Lon »

The problem that I see with the current plan to have Wall Street hit with a tax after 5 years if the American Tax Payer looses any money on the BAILOUT.

If the American Tax Payer looses money on the bailout Wall Street might not even be around to pay anything at all. Have Wall Street start ponying up some money right now while they have some, not later.

I agree Lon but then again they didn't ask us for our opinions did they? I also think the Top Dogs of these Banks and companies don't deserve a severance package at all. They deserved to be fired and told to leave the building nothing more. Give their severance packages to the people in the trenches of these companies who may lose their jobs.

I sure as heck wouldn't be rewarding them for screwing up. Sorry don't let the door hit your sorry backside on the way out. :-5

The problem is a shortage of capital and many organizations are seeking that from foreigners so while your suggestion sounds logical it can't work too well now. But not to fear, even if the government makes money on these deals, a real possibility, you can count on Congress to use those funds on some new spending program rather than pay down the national debt or shore up Medicare or Social Security.

Wall Street Bailout Plan?

They were supposed to have published the bill at noon - eastern time zone I assume. I couldn't find it, but I'm pretty sure it's not called "Bailout Plan" or "Taxpayer Theft" so I don't know what to look for.

Heres the latest from NY Times.

Would make sense if they wre going to use the money to bring back liquidity to the credit market. It seems more geared to bailing out their cronies than saving the financial system. If those responsible lost their jobs but that doesn;t seem to be happening. Not in this country either although there are demands that the bosses being forced to leave in takeovers be forced to forego any severance package.
