I just listened to Senator McCain's concession speech.

Apart from his throwing in the bit about the black solidarity vote? He did a fine job against a very partisan crowd who didn't want to hear what he was saying. I do hope he goes home and shuts up now, his voice needs a rest.

I'm listening to Senator Obama discussing Senator McCain in his acceptance speech, about him being a selfless defender of the nation in time of need. I'd thought he was an indiscriminate killer of civilians, maybe I misunderstood the consequences of bombing Hanoi.

So, America, you killed one President Hussein and the consequence of doing it is a destroyed Republican party and a President Hussein all of your own. He's a far better man than you deserve.

Well I think what's left is for us, as American citizens, is to back the man and help create a perfect state of equality throughout the known world and to not just think we know what is moral and just, but to know what is moral and just because the former just quite simply isn't good enough.

I thought Obama's speech was nothing shy of brilliant, and I think the United States of America has elected the right man to be the next President of the United States of America, and I give the man all my support and undivided attention.

Well done America. Let's say well done in 4 years!!!!!!!

Obama is starting off with quite a mess the clean up. I hope he is up to it. But I agree that we have to stand behind him. I dont really think it is possible to create a perfect state of equality throughout the world....given all the different governments and cultures. The cultures of the world are, in many cases, far too different to work in harmony and create a perfect world. Its a nice thought though and maybe something close to acceptable can be created. Americans, at this point, are going to expect Obama to give priority to Americans....that is the current mood in our country. Our country needs much work and I dont think Americans are going to sit still for any president giving much attention to a global agenda. Maybe later after we fix up our country.

What our country needs is the best perspective known to man kind of actual worth. Once this is achieved we can begin to not only give endless career opportunities to Americans but everyone in the world at the same time. This is achieved by having the need to misunderstand "class" all together.

That will work if Americans see their own opportunities increase. But I think everyone is kind of sick of trying to bring up the whole globe while the american worker falls into the abyss. Enough of that. Americans are going to expect some action from this president. No more bs. They are going to expect him to be an AMERICAN president.

Well, personally America's standards are way above everyone else's so it's only natural for me to expect more from them even in America's economy today.

Does America have enough troops within the Homeland to guarantee its borders and security?

He can start by firing all the rest then, that'd be a good beginning.

Fair enough. But the American government should serve it's own people first. Once that is done then it is ok to help others. Here is my analogy: Would you feed someone else's kids while your kids starve? Or would you feed your own kids first and then feed others kids once that is done?

I wouldn't have children unless I were 100% certain I could provide for them so I'm going to have to answer the question subjectively...

But I would provide for my children before I were to make any other virtue of mine prominent, but I'd do it fighting a system that charges way too much money for the necessities I need to survive stressing the blatant fact such an abysmal ideology is at the expense of the impoverished. <-----I'm not yelling at you, I'm yelling at them...:wah:...

I agree. And it is nice to have enough to be able to help others. But it is not ok to help others at the expense of your own. And it's really kind of tragic when it comes to a point that a choice has to be made at all. Unfortunately, we are currently faced with that choice. I do agree with your protest against such an inadequate system.

About Senator McCain killing civilians in Hanoi? Did he not? We used to pitchfork Luftwaffe aircrew who bailed out over Kent for exactly that.

About President Bush spending a trillion and a half of America's hard-earned dollars and the good health of thirty thousand or so US troops so he could kill the man who taunted his daddy? Did he not?

So prickly spot, so prickly.

McCain hasn't won, I know you wanted him to so that Amercia would get deeper into the trouble its in now, but maybe the Yanks have more sense than you ascribe to them, particularly the ordinary people. As I have said many times before, you dismiss the ability of the Americans to re-invent themselves and do the right thing in the end at your peril.

Don't worry, after today he may not last long as leader of the labour party. If the SNP win in Glenrothes labour is going to start panicking. He may in fact be out of parliament altogether. Bye bye Gordon.

You mock now, oh Scottish haggis party of one.

From what i've been reading (NO, not just the Daily Mail), it tells me that Labour is gaining in the polls and supporters of the SNP will be having a shock result in Glenrothes very shortly.

You say 'He MAY in fact be out of parliment altogether' May being the arguable question for you. I notice, your not brave enough to say 'WILL' be out of Parliment.

Not bye bye Gordon...... More.. Welcome to Glenrothes Mr Brown, please can we kiss your feet??

Do you want to bet some of your wages from the haggis factory on that outcome?? :wah::wah:

Such a bureaucracy begs for abuse and wastes far more tax dollars than it spends wisely. There is far more compassion and dignity in face-to-face assistance than in a FEMA-style 'take a number' system, and the chances are tremendously higher that the people that need help will get it and those who would abuse the system will be shown the door.

Is it fair to assume your lack of vocal outrage at the US acting as a welfare state towards other nations is a show of support ?

I dunno about fair but it's inaccurate. I don't support dependence. TBH I'm not sure how much welfare we're providing to other countries now; I haven't researched it. I do know just from being stationed in Japan that the Japanese gov't pays a large portion of our expenses to have our military on their land. How much of a portion, I don't know, but it does make us look like hired guns.

I'd prefer that the gov't get out of the charity game altogether because they use it as a political weapon, putting all kinds of strings on any offers of aid. If people need help they need it; if they don't, they don't. Food shouldn't be a bargaining chip. Cut our taxes by however much is in the budget for charity and let us do that ourselves. Just because other nations rely on their governments to provide charity doesn't mean we have to. We can do it better, cheaper, with less bureaucracy and fewer strings.

Hi gmc Mr Oscar here.

Help me out will you old chap?? Please please, do not get my wife started on the Glenrothes election.

Trust me, i will be the one to suffer.

I have had months of McCain this and Obama that.

I also suffer daily from Gordon Brown this, Cameron that.

If she gets started on the SNP and Labour, i will just have to go and kill myself. I suffer enough.

Many thanks

Mr Oscar
