What you've got there is Jack Kennedy reborn with some extra plus points. Take good care of him, you're only averaging one every fifty years.

That is sheer genius. Six million dollars and not a single glance, that's pure disdain.

If Senator Obama is really edging closer to a landslide with that half hour video, and I reckon it would be good for the USA to vote for unity with this election, it puts these states into the Democrat camp along with the usual suspects: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota and West Virginia. Is there any there that is a genuine impossibility at this stage?

Unity ?

Theres no such thing.

It depends what you call a landslide. An Electoral Voter margin in three figures? Would that count? He's got that, I reckon. A margin of 300? That would qualify as a whitewash.

I saw one thing that will make him purr inside tonight. Governor Palin said that yes, they were losing 2008, but "I'm not doing this for naught", she'd be running for President in her own right in 2012. The idea of taking her on in 2012 must sound so good to him, not to mention how much it sounded like throwing in the towel already.

I'll also tell you what tends toward causing a landslide. It's one camp having a volunteer task force in every county and the other camp having none. There's talk of Senator McCain's team having failed to organize the people who help the local voters to their polling stations on the day., who knock on doors and ring phones and get the last percent out of what can be managed. Perhaps they really don't want to win another four years. If that's the case, at least they have sound survival instincts. Four more Republican White House years at this stage would destroy the entire Republican party for the rest of the century.

I guess 70% to 30% vote or worse would be considered a landslide in my book.

Then again, I have always said I don't know the ins and outs of this sort of thing and go on limited information.

Gov Palin really said that? I have yet to see it so have to ask. The first thing I thought of though when I read that is how Hilary secretly hoped Obama would lose so she could run in 4 years, cuz in 8 years, she'll be too old (right?). Wouldnt that be fun? Not that it is relevant, just a random thought.

As for McCains camp not doing their job, I know I had to delete 14 damn phone messages off my phone tonight when I got home from vacation. Personally, I'm joining that "politician, don't call me" phone list I saw a commercial about (just gotta find that web site)

If Barack Obama is elected President we will loose the war on terror.

You can't win a war on an adjective anyway, people did try to explain this to Uncle George in 2003, but he knew better of course.

If Barack Obama is elected President we will have race riots in this country like we have never seen before.

Why? Who are going to instigate these race riots? Usually they are caused by the black urban poor, I can't see that happening. Are you saying the black people will be killed by middle class suburban white people because one of them was uppity enough to become president? Unlikely, ordinary white people will just get on with it, except for the extremist neo-nazi's, but they don't like anyone anyway, and there aren't as many of them as they think there are.

If Barack Obama is elected president, the US Constitution will be as useful as toilet paper.

How is that going to happen? Do you think because he is black he can't read and can only use the document in the toilet?

If Barack Obama is elected President the recession will turn to depression, taxes will go up for everyone directly or indirectly. The poor will stay poor, the rich will pay the poor and the 80% in the middle will carry the country and suffer the most.

The recession is already turning into a depression, and it happened under good old white boys George, Karl, Ben, and Paul, explain that to me? As for the fear of redistribution of wealth away from super-rich parasites to the working poor, people will have to make their own minds up about that one.

Worst of all my father will refuse to serve a standing president, There is no telling what that will trouble that will bring him.

What's your father's reasons for not serving his president? Because he is black? Oh dear thats quite sad really.

God help us all if he wins.

The last part is one of several such comments I've seen lately, and its along the lines of Vote Palin-McCain, Or else, not a great message for a democracy where people are supposed to be allowed to vote for whoever they want without fear of repercussions from the other, angry side.

I was being facetious to try and rouse a response, anyway its Hoss's dad we are talking about. Also, I do recall the post mentioning "a race-war" as well as the collapse of the constitution, and the defeat of America militarily, all quite incendary stuff you have to admit.

To be honest, I am finding that a lot of this "you can't trust Obama" from a certain type of Republican is based on the primal white fear of the black man (or even the Muslim black man) taking power. t seems to be anyway, as the other reasons are a load of nonsense, its not that hard to understand is it?

He's actually not a socialist or a muslim, or a terrorist, but people insist that they don't believe him when he points out that he isn't any of these things (repeatedly, with evidence). Why do they refuse to be reassured that he isn't about to blow up the Capitol, I doubt they would accuse Hillary Clinton of these ridicluous things, but somehow its acceptable to accuse (based on no evidence) that Obama is an anti-christ; with all sorts of delusional fears (which could come from the fevered imaginings of some 1930s German Nazi) being justifed, explain please?

That's because McCain wants to pretend he had nothing to do with it and obama is wondering what the hell he is going to do about it. :sneaky:

So if Obama wins how likely is there to be a right wing military coup to restore freedom and democracy to the American people with christian values to the fore?

Alot plus we have 3 other children in private school. That's a sacrifice we have chosen. Daughter opted not to go to the university but instead is going to the local community college, but still we are paying out the wazoo for that, plus car insurance, you name it.

Hate to break it to ya, but there is no national university. You're being snowed. You're paying way too much in taxes so that they can toss a couple coins your way and call it saving on tuition that they can't even charge you.

Shall I have a quiet brag about that? My daughter asked me what the result would be as I was putting her to bed[1]. The news programs all say different to me, I told her, but it'll be a majority of eighteen for the Conservatives. I was out by three.

What you've been saying, about Senator Obama offering all things to all people, isn't what I've heard when I've listened. I've heard him saying that there'll be bad news ahead but that whatever it is he'll say it the way things are, not lie his way through. All I've heard him emphasize in his broadcasts is a commitment to honesty in government.

I think Senator McCain will be on a par with Walter Mondale or Hubert Humphrey when the results are counted. And don't say "Hubert Who?", he wrote very well and I expect he taught effectively too. Here, I have a beautiful quote from wikipedia:In 1960, Humphrey ran again for the Democratic presidential nomination against fellow Senator John F. Kennedy in the primaries. Their first meeting was in the Wisconsin primary, where Kennedy's well-organized and well-funded campaign defeated Humphrey's energetic but poorly-funded effort. Kennedy's attractive brothers, sisters, and wife combed the state looking for votes, at one point Humphrey memorably complained that he "felt like an independent merchant running against a chain store."

His tax increases will hit the first year, that will drive the recession longer, burden the middle class immediately and I guess approx 20% of small businesses that would have made it will fail. If it keeps up and he adds in his social agenda in the first two years then we will spiral into depression within four years.

January 21st my father will turn himself in to the nearest commander and tell him he refuses to serve any further.

I was thinking about you today. I was thinking about your extremist views and wondering what percentage of it is original thought vs dads influence.

I completely understand you love and honor your father and your lucky to have eachother.

My thoughts were leaning towards using you as an example in portraying a common occurence.

If dad had been a Jew hating neo nazi chances are high you would have developed some of the same patterns of thinking. At least until you had an epiphany or were enlightened otherwise that would cause you to question your and your fathers beliefs.

Parents are our source of introduction to the world and their influence is inevitable. Good and bad traits are handed down.

If dad loves hunting odds are because you need your dads attention you will follow in his footsteps and become a hunter yourself. Not an absolute but the odds are likely.

If dad was a full blown racist and hated black people its a pretty good indication that those feelings were handed down to him by his father and the cycle continues to perpetuate itself. The monster grows.

Since your political and social views appear to mirror dads I have to assume its because you were taught that theres a correct way to think and the social implications are evidenced by your words. Im not implying your a robot nor that you dont have a good mind and clearly you use it. Your firm in your opinions and you exercise your right to voice them. Im also not implying theres a right or a wrong, well if dad had taught you to be racist then yes theres a wrong but I dont believe thats whats occuring here.

If by chance you had been born in Iran you undoubtedly would be raised as a Muslim with all the trimmings.

Pick a scenario anywhere, our parents teach us what they want us to know and they mold us in their image.

I grew up in a drunken household and I became a drunk myself. I dont blame anyone but it was the influence I grew up with.

If I have a point at all here its to say theres a time to lead and a time to follow but its always a good time to question everything. Its how we become independent.

There'll be a simple test in four years when he's up for re-election.

Unfortunately? Black culture's to be deplored? I'm looking at "negative aspects of black racism in the US" wondering what the alternative positive aspects of black racism in the US might be.
