So, in a nutshell, he's trying to say that this whole thing over the cartoons is America's fault. Surprise surprise. People even blamed the 2004 tsunami on America. He sure wasted a lot of time discussing things that have absolutely nothing at all to do with the current cartoon debacle in any way if that was supposed to be his point all along.

Although I agree with some of the general ideas he's getting at, his grip on the facts seems tenuous at best. The rocket attack which killed those Pakistani civillians was a very big deal here. I have to wonder what world he's living in that "has heard almost nothing about that." The USA may benefit from some double-standards but I think it is also subjected to more double-standards than most other countries. Many, many more civilians have died in the Russian war in Chechnya than have been killed by Americans in Iraq, but does anyone decry that or accuse Putin of imperialism? No, au contraire, they think he's a tough, strong guy they want on their side (Gerhard Schroeder having been the best example of this.)

As for those poor, oppressed muslims, if they want respect they should act respectably.
