Resolution Of Condemnation Regarding Iran
Resolution Of Condemnation Regarding Iran
If anyone would like to read the Resolution Of Condemnation Regarding Iran in the House of Representatives last Thursday, February 16, 2006, I'd be interested in a FG thread on Republican Congressman Ron Paul's contribution. It starts at the top of the center column at http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin ... sition=all
Nullius in verba ... ☎||||||||||| ... To Fate I sue, of other means bereft, the only refuge for the wretched left.
When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.
Who has a spare two minutes to play in this month's FG Trivia game! ... My other OS is Slackware.

We went into Afghanistan to look for
Osama bin Laden, and we sort of got
distracted.
This struck my funny bone. I imagined it said with a Texas accent for some reason.
I believe that Mr. Paul may sleep well at night.
I found the middle column inspiring and the other two somewhat terrifying. It seems that the dictionary writers will have a lot of revising to do for the next editions.
um...I tried reading further, for about 6 pages and couldn't decide what they passed and what they didn't pass. Is there a summary...or have they actually voted on it? From what I saw Mr. Paul was disregarded fairly quickly. He is a man with a healthy backbone.

got it. I guess they are redefining what "responsible" means.

Besides, it would have diluted the focus from Dr Paul's comments.

your choice of drop zone was correct. I'd also like to see if anyone else at FG understands Paul's need to say what he did. For my vote: he's a hero.

hero: n a person noted for courageous action
yes, hero. If he had little statistical information to back him up then all the more so...though it is not for lack of available data.
Noam Chomsky, in order to tape a 5 min segment for a US radio station regarding a recent book had to write out exactly what he was going to say. Once that was approved he was made to read exactly what was written until it fit the prescribed time, as he was not permitted to alter from the approved dialogue even to omit a word. On the night of airing an executive of the station heard that Chomsky would be speaking on air and forced them to cancel the segment. After an intense onslaught of calls in protest the station reannounced it and aired the segment the following night.
Point of story: it is not easy to say what convictions a person holds when in certain arenas. Workplace bullying is at an all time high and Congress is not exempt. I didn't notice anybody else coming to Mr Paul's aid though he is certainly not alone in his beliefs.
