Here my results:
LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and
economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one
that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.
Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose
government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate
diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.
In case there was any doubt.

Political Quiz
According to that, I'm a liberal.
Your PERSONAL issues Score is 80%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 30%.
LIBERALS usually embrace freedom of choice in personal matters, but tend to support significant government control of the economy. They generally support a government-funded "safety net" to help the disadvantaged, and advocate strict regulation of business. Liberals tend to favor environmental regulations, defend civil liberties and free expression, support government action to promote equality, and tolerate diverse lifestyles.
I consider myself to be a moderate democrat since I'm against most gov't actions to promote equality. I'm not sure what they mean by significant gov't control of the economy. I'm for preventing monopolies and for protecting the environment and workers, but not really in favor of raising the minimum wage.

Just curious, what'd you disagree with in the personal area? For me it was national ID cards. I think we need 'em.

ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS,
The political description that
fits you best is...
.
CENTRIST
CENTRISTS espouse a "middle ground" regarding government
control of the economy and personal behavior. Depending on
the issue, they sometimes favor government intervention
and sometimes support individual freedom of choice.
Centrists pride themselves on keeping an open mind,
tend to oppose "political extremes," and emphasize what
they describe as "practical" solutions to problems.

This is why this "political witch hunt" of the word "Liberal" is nothing less then an
asinine "political witch hunt".......most people do fall in the middle. They always have. Last time we did this test I appeared to be more "Conservative" in the spectrum than ACC......lol:p

I do consider myself a libertarian, so I'm not really surprised that this test calls me one. BUT... I think the way things are worded kind of goads people into choosing libertarian-friendly answers. And, as you can see by the breakdown, more people scored libertarian than anything else on the test so far even though libertarians tend to be only a tiny minority in the political landscape of the real world.

There's a far more involved quiz I know is linked around here somewhere. I'll try to find it. When I took that one it called me a Lebertarian Lite, or something like that.

51-90 points: You are a medium-core libertarian, probably self-consciously so. Your friends probably encourage you to quit talking about your views so much.
I still found a certain amount of loading on the questions which 'forced' me to make a choice that didn't represent my view or opinion either way.
I do tend to be a Libertarian in my views but I believe that there should be a safety net for those who drop off or lose their hold, or footing from time to time (not as a permanent place to hang out, though).

The bureaucracy that handles it will be the same, regardless of the president. They'll hook it to either the social security number or the passport people.
I just laugh at the irony when some official asked my wife if she's an American citizen, ready to pass her through on her word alone, then when she says she's not a citizen, suddenly they want to see documents. *shakes head*

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.
Noam Chomsky
Most Americans think they have two sides to a coin (democrat/left/liberal and republican/right/conservative) when actually they have a mobius strip.
It is vital to American freedom that other political parties and views fight to be heard.

No one single system works by itself. there has to be a mix according to need. As time changes, so the needle pointer will shift across the scale until we make the changes to balance the social dynamics. This goes on both at the top end as well as the bottom end of the social hierarchy.

Not entirely sure what you mean. People who propound theories on the way society works and what political system is best are often the last ones who should be listened to. Personally I think the best system is one that's always changing. we have no written constitution so things can change with the times and there is lot of give and take with no hard and fast rules. Unlike america there is no debate about what the founders and writers meant and would do now and whether god comes in to it -we kind of make things up as we go. constant compromise in some times hammered out on the anvil of war. I don't trust our politicians when they call for a written constitution principally because they want to write it.

I did a year of basic law at uni and my professor said something similar "why bother writing down a constitution when we have 1000 years of law and precedent"?
He also said if a government wants to ignore a written constitution it will do, as recent events have proven?

Yeh, I was surprised to find out that Congress & the Pres could pass any law they damn well pleased. As long as nobody challenged the law in court, it would stand. The Supreme Court is more of a passive body, in that if nobody asked for their opinion, they don't give it.

'Dead Eye' Dick "we aren't inflicting the punishment, we are just flying people to somewhere where they will"
I just have a picture in my mind of George, Donald, Dick and Pontius Pilate, all washing their hands from the same bowl of bloody water....Wow. Couldn't wait to work it into the conversation so you just wedge it here?
