Funeral

Post by DesignerGal »

You guys, I have a funeral to go to tomorrow and I hate them. I cant control myself and I cry like a blubbering baby! It just sucks!

It was my hubby's colleage and he was young!

This is so awful I just had to get it out! What should I do tomorrow? Any words of advice to get through this thing?

If you are like me, you can go to a total strangers funeral and cry like a baby. It's awful to say, but I try never to look directly at the deceased, and while the eulogy is going on, I try to tune it out. Good luck!

I think blubbering is just fine. It means you have a gentle heart. Thats always a good thing.

Thanks guys. He was cremated but there were all these pictures of him and emails he sent right before he died on a board at his "wake" today. I didnt even go and when my husband told me about it I started crying so I can only imagine how hard tomorrow will be. He was very young and has a young wife and 2 small children. What should I or could I say to his widow?

Don't feel bad about crying, it shows your feelings and compassion for the deceased and the family ..... i always try to focus on this persons passage through life, and you will always find something that they achieved and passed onto somebody else.

Even a small child can teach us many things, i always believe everybody is here for a purpose, sometimes that purpose is not revealed until they are gone.

Just be who you are. There is nothing wrong with crying. Next Wednesday is my daughter's Birthday and I can guarantee that I will stand beside her grave and cry uncontrollably as I do every year and often at other times too. Better to let it out than keep it in. I am sorry for your Husband's loss.

I've been to several childrens funerals and they're tough. Having said that so are the oldies but with a sense of inevitability as opposed to lost opportunity.

Even though I sing while driving and working.....well....all the time, I have yet to be capable of doing it at a funeral as my throat gets constricted as I ALWAYS get a bit choked.

I suppose it depends on the circumstances of the death as well. The most memorable funeral I attended was that of a friend who had hanged himself. His demons and opting out were openly discussed and explained as part of the service. The best part though was that there was zero religion in the service and it's the only time that the things being said really connected with me.

It was a beautiful service. His sister and brother got up and reflected on his life. A Senator even gave his two young daughters a flag that had flown over the WHite House.

He was such an fun person and always looked for the silver lining in any dark cloud!

It went all right then, for such a sad event. I hope it was not too stressful for you, they are such sad times.
