ANASTROPHY - re survey

Post by Frederick »

Hey, Anastrophy - steady on! When I first came on to this thread, I made more than a few mistakes myself. My first message was posted on a board which nobody could reply to until Ladycop pointed it out to me in a private message. Like everybody else, I had to feel my way around. Until last week I didn't even know what an avator was, so when in all innosence some youngster puts out a survey on the wrong board, why come on all heavy, saying "I'm closing you down"? Where is your Christian spirit - still in the off-licence? All you had to do was point out the error. Because of your heavy handed attitude, that youngster will probably never return. You'd have lost at least one customer, and dare I say this, you deserve it! I suppose my head is for the chopping board now, too!

I think you're blowing this out of proportion frederick,

it can be so annoying seeing the same thread posted over and over.

A. didn't delete the active thread that our new young friend posted. It can be found here :http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/showt ... post270443

Deleting threads that appear the same in different sections of a forum is Standard Operating Procedure for forum moderators and administrators.

i'm sorry you feel that way frederick, but it's how the world works. multiple postings of the same thing are an annoyance to the majority of forumgardners, and at minimum they would make tabulating the results of the survey harder. i debated between closing the threads or just deleting them. if i'd deleted them, then the result already generated would have been lost, so i felt i was doing a courtesy by simply closing them. furthermore, within the world of forums, it's often considered....poor form.... for students to use a forum to help them complete their homework. to be perfectly frank, i doubt the user would be back to actually participate in forumgarden after having harvested the answers they needed to get a better grade. please forgive my cynicism.

as far as my christian spirit, i'm not a christian, so, yes, it is absent. my spirit of fair play, charity, do unto others as you would have done unto you, and too much is never enough, remains intact. some might disagree however. to each his or her own.

oh, last but not least, we don't ban users simply because they question how we run things here. we may issue a ration of grief to them for doing so, but that's not what banning is about.

cheers.

I have just been on to the General Chit Chat forum and seen his/her survey with the corresponding replies which, I feel, would have received a better response had it been left here. Having reread anastrophy's thread, I stand by what I said - I still feel he/she could have been corrected a little less intimidatingly. It's only his/her fourth thread, for goodness sake.

Fair comment. Thus said, I too could have technically been at fault by asking for people's testimonials which could have gone on forever, although I did take the precaution of creating a special e-mail address for that purpose. As you say, he probably won't be back, and maybe, just maybe, I too came across a bit heavy on you. If that is the case, then I stand corrected. I am sorry to hear you are not a Christian: however, peace be with you! (LOL)

You are wrong Fred, and perhaps a bit naive.

Maybe I am wrong, but naive? Only in the fact that like most practising Christians, I try to try to find the good in most people.

As opposed to us non-Christians who try to seek out evil in everyone?
