I have two questions.

Post by Lennox »

1) I am an individual that sat in Natchez, MS from August 27, 2005 until Septemer 7, 2005 and watched New Orleans get f*%*ed over by Katrina, the levees, and government. I am now in Sugar Land, TX which is right outside of Houston. (Ahhh, "Bush Country" at its best.) One thing I've come to notice is the majority of individuals I've come across have all hated Ray Nagin for various reasons, but George W. Bush is the best person to walk the Earth since Christ. As a former Louisiana resident (in case you didn't put it together, Katrina kicked me out), this leads me to the first of my 2 questions. Those individuals who so adamantly support Bush say that he could not enter New Orleans without permission from the local government. If he were to do so it would breech Constitutional rights. Finally my question is, How can a president invade a foreign country against the wishes of Congress and the UN, but he can not send help to a city located in this country?

2)How is it that Bill Clinton is known as being a liar based on something that affected no one besides Monica, Hillary, and he? Yet the current president who has lied about everything from WMD's to wiretapping since he got elected the first time is still considered a good man by the majority? Why isn't there talk about impeaching Bush?

Do you find a tendency among Republicans to play "I don't care if I'm right or if I'm wrong - who can tell the difference anyway - what matters is whether I'm winning"?

I find that's a recent introduction to my perception of politics. Perhaps I was merely naive previously. I do hope that the infection doesn't spread across whatever thin political divide might still exist.

I fully agree. And to be clear I'm not a democrat. I'm independent. There are no lines between the two parties yet all they do is sit and point fingers at each other about their wrongdoings. The way I feel is, I'll support whoever will screw up the least.

I sure wish an Independent party would come up with a really charismatic, outstanding leader. If he won, it might revolutionize the whole countries politics!

As far as Bush goes: "He never lied about having sex."

Why is that such a big deal. I guess because sex is such a big deal. Look at movies, you can have violence, swearing, bloodshed, and criminal content and still get a PG13 rating.

But add one sex scene and it's "R" instantly!!;)

We've had lots of discussions about Katrina here. I can post links if you wish. The fed, state, and city gov'ts all put so much spin on what happened, they damn near created another hurricane.

N.O. was Bush's baby, because the fed gov't took over levee maintenance. Everybody dropped the ball on that one, creating an avoidable catastrophe. Nagle screwed the pooch as well, with the evacuation. Remember the fleet of buses that never moved - that could have evacuated thousands.

Lesson learned: get the fed gov't the hell out of everything except interstate commerce, defense, and one or two other specifics outlined in the US Constitution. I may not prevent another Katrina disaster, but it will reduce confusion about responsibility.

Are you and your family all right?
