World Cup in game...

Post by K.Snyder »

While the game opener in Germany proved to be a scare as the Germans were surprised to see a Costa Rica team match a stout German side goal for goal, Costa Rica proved that ambition and determinism will not allow any team to just lay down.

The game ended, however, in a 4-2 victory for Germany, and a long road to come ahead of Costa Rica if they expect to advance out of their group A status, along with Poland, Ecuador, and Germany.

Costa Rica looked as if they could never seem to muster a respectable, organized attack, with the exception of a couple breakaway goals by Costa Rica, as the Germans continued to try and play the offside game, which proved to be costly in the two goals given up by what looks like a very strong offensive German team.

With a 4-2 victory over Costa Rica, the Germans have set the tone for what is to come in the World Cup, as well as a very strong hold on advancing out of group A.

Yeah, they said something about them changing the ball so that its more striker friendly, and the goalkeepers not exactly keen on the idea, but none the less should make a great scoring World Cup.

I have to say, nothing in the Ecuador vs Poland game struck my attention to being a threat in the World Cup, other than Ecuadors proud defense, and rightly so. I dont know if Poland just didnt show up, or that Ecuadors defense is a brick wall all in its own, but one thing is for sure, anyone who plays Ecuador better bring their offense.

Ecuadors 2-0 win over Poland looked to stamp its interest for advancing out of group A alongside Germany. I honestly dont see Poland or Costa Rica being able to survive past their group stage just from the first two games of the Cup. But its early, and miracles do happen, they just wont happen this year, you heard it here first.

I had missed the England vs Paraguay game today, so I went to the ESPN Classic official website to see when the game would be aired as a rerun today, and low and behold there is the score directly on the first page. Now I dont want to watch the match because I know what is to come. Is the story that important that you have to post it on the front page of ESPN Classic, a program desined specifically to replay the game to let people who havnt seen the game get to see it, and to replay it as being simply a big event? What a joke. I was wanting to see that game, now it is worthless.

Did you watch the Sweden v Trinidad & Tobago match ? If you didnt, dont look at my thread about the game cos it has the score :D

I missed that one too, but your thread is on the home page on top where everyone can see it. I happenned to look at it. Now that I know the score of this game, I am glad I had seen your thread because I would have been quit angry watching the entire game due to the outcome(wont say it for the sake of those who still wish to catch it). If anything I should be thanking you.

Well this is getting frustrating.

I thought that the Argentina game was at 9:00PM eastern standard time, but have just found out that the game is actually over. I thought it was at 9:00PM because under the "time" column it says 21:00 on the match schedule page of the official World Cup website. I have missed three games due to this. I thought that 21:00 as the time was worldwide but apparently im missing something.

Having said that, I would appreciate if anyone has an actual schedule that is reliable that you wont mind posting or posting the link to it. I would be extremely grateful.

Here is the schedule I was relying on.

Your probably right.

They should illustrate what time zone they are basing the schedule on though. Considering that the World Cup official site is not limited to any given country they would do that.

Now I am going to have to look up German time compared to U.S time. I am just glad that one of the games I missed wasnt the USA vs Czhech Republic game. I may have boycotted the site just for neglect of showing times for everywhere, or atleast have an option to link to a schedule for a specific timezone. You would think they would do that for a sporting event that is the most watched in the entire world.

Well, my worst fears of the opening game for the United States has come true. They didnt look very well at all. The Czechs are a great team, but the U.S still looked like they were lost. Going down so early to a team like the Czhechs just overwhelmed us and it was all down hill from there. We really have a steep hill to climb now.

The way I see the U.S. getting back in it, is if Ghana pulls out a miracle and beats Italy today, and us being able to win out is the only way I see us making it to the next round.

We have alot of practice to do.
