Name and Shame

Post by annabelle »

I wonder how many of us in FG have, either recently, or at some time in the past been "ripped off" by unscrupulous tradespeople in various ways. ie , Overcharging, uncompleted work, faulty or inferior materials used.

The list is endless ...

Electricians

Plumbers

Builders

Real Estate Agents

Mail Order Companies etc etc etc ....

Why not get it off your chest and name and shame them?

Just a thought ...:)

Once - and the only shame was mine for being taken in.

He's long gone with a dozen other names to hide behind.

I've learnt - I won't make that mistake again.

If I'm not mistaken, this might violate the TOS.

I could add an extremely long list of Companies, all of whom should receive an award for blatant stupidity among their staff.

Top off my list is would have to be PC World and Homebase.

Their staff look at you with a vacant expression if you dare to approach them with a question. May as well be talking Arabic! :yh_angry

This is a biggie.. I just wrote them a letter yesterday.

Verizon routed a long distance phone call to the UK through AT&T

The charge is 172.00$

I have my own long distance carrier. I pay .06 cents to call the UK

My cell phone charges me .o8 cents to call the UK

Why would I make a call for 1.79$ ????????

I told them yesterday... You can do whatever you want to me. I am not paying that bill.. How dare you? Do you think the public is stupid?

I think Ill go around my neighborhood, today, and put bills in peoples mail boxes for stuff they didnt ask me for. Lets see if I receive any money.

OneTV (UK tv shopping channel - yes, I know serves me right!)

First (and last) time I've ever shopped from tv, ordered item that was absolute rubbish last December and returned it same day it arrived.

Have been chasing refund ever since and finally managed to obtain it end of last month.

Sadly, look like channel is going under and there are still 1000's more people who they owe money to for goods never sent or returned and not refunded.

Only got my refund because I threated legal action.

That kind of thing is happening all too often. It's bloody disgraceful!

At least you obtained a refund in the end, but it should never have taken so long.

My first line of threat before legal action is Trading Standards, which tends to be effective.

Makes you mad doesn't it? Telecommunications are top of my list too, their customer service has gone rapidly downhill over the past decade or so, along with their greed for more revenue!

Blame the government's greed in milking the 3G licence auction.

The billions the telecomms companies were forced to pay has to come from somewhere!

Quite right Bryn, can you add Argos to your list as well? Oh & McDonalds & Toys R us & B&Q (except on a wednesday, as it's oap day then.) Finally, Petsmart--you are not!
