There is such beauty in the clip... a child being a child and a dog loving the child, Valerie that was a fantastic clip. I loved it.

That was so wonderful to watch.

Alsatians are well known for their gentleness with children which is one of the things that makes them suitable family dogs. They are only vicious if they are ill-treated (or perhaps if they are not well). Dogs love playing and so do kids, the partnership is mutual.

A great video though. Really made me smile with joy.

While it was a very nice video, I am alarmed by the fact that the parents of this child have no problem with such a large and powerful dog putting it's teeth to the skin of such a small child. That and there doesn't seem to be another adult at the scene.

But, having been involved in some small way in the Rottweiler world for several years and having spent no small bit of time researching and fighting BSL - it may be a bit of a off-side view.

I know what you mean Arnold and Lilac. This video didn't have sound, but

it's originally from America's Funniest Home videos, we saved it on Tivo

because we love it so much. On that, you can hear at least 2 adults,

apparently the dad taking the video at one point says something like

"That's enough" or "Take it easy" or something, and it cracks me up

every time because you really can't tell if he means the little girl or the

gsd!! I think that they bothered to video means it's happened before, and

if they are perfectly comfortable with the play then I think it's fine.

The one part I really like is when she grabs him and he sort of flips his

whole body over on his back... no way could that little girl do that to

that 100 pound or so guy, he's totally PLAYING.

I was a bit spoiled by my Chase. While she was all for some rough play with me or my DH (always at OUR initiation) the minute a young child was in her space - she would stop. She would not play rough with my preteen daughters, no matter how hard they encouraged her.
