Bullet called!!!!!!

Wow, I finally got the call I've been waiting for, after all this time. It took this long for the paperwork to go through, and to assign him a PIN and finally he called!!!!

Oh, that was the best sound I'd heard in WEEKS!!!! They broke in to tell us we had one minute left, and I was devastated, but he told me he'd try again, and he was able to call right back. The calls are short, maybe 12 minutes, but I got to talk to him twice!! It was so freakin hard to hang up that second time, but I know he's all set up and I will be hearing from him more frequently now. It feels like a milestone. Next is a visit, but that still won't be for another month. At least. BUT, I GOT A CALL!!!!

Can you tell I'm a bit giddy? He wanted me to thank those of you who have written him, he said he's been very touched by the letters, and he apologizes for not writing back to you. (You know who you are :-4 ) but he is only allowed to spend $25 a week, and all his postage is going to his family. He is not even able to buy enough to cover all of us! :yh_angry

So please, don't feel slighted that he can't write back to you, he really wants to, but there are so many writing, that to reply to them would be impossible. But he sends his most heartfelt THANK YOU!!!! to you all, as I do.

Thanks, gang!! Val, your reply is about how I'm feeling right now!!

I want to reiterate that he feels awful not being able to write back to you guys, but it's just impossible for him. They just won't let him get what he needs to do it. We are being kinda sneaky though, and all the family is slipping one extra piece of paper in their letters to him. They are getting through, for the most part. It's the envelopes and postage that he can't buy in the quantity he needs. Maybe that will change when he gets out of quarantine and into where he will be housed for the rest of his stay. Hopefully it will, because he really wants to write to everyone who's written him. Thank you again, thank you so much for thinking of him. You all are the greatest. :-4 :-6 :-4 :-6

Thanks so much Val. He's one of those kinds of people who doesn't want to "owe" anyone anything, and to not be able to write to everyone who's writing to him p!sses him off. I will let him know tomorrow when he calls that you said that. Thanks for that. You're a great friend. To both of us.

BR excellent so happy you got to hear his voice...:-4 In my letter I like floppy asked only to tell us what he needs so we can send it.. Heck I wills send stamps now that I know he needs them for his family. I will keep writting and I know he appreciates it I don't expect a response at all.. Just trying to keep his spirits up..

You must be so happy to finally hear from him..

Carla, thank you so much for the thought, but don't bother sending him stamps, he won't get them. He has to buy everything from commissary. The only thing he can receive in the mail is letters and cards and photos. Anything with stamps in it will only get refused and sent back to you. But again, thanks for wanting to do it!!

I've told him repeatedly to just write me if he has something I can get sent to him... I know he's kinda limited at the moment in supplies and stuff. In the meantime, I figure I'll just keep dumping the cards and letters and puzzles on him. I have had to rethink the cards.. going by 'brands' at one time, so I don't rebuy the same one...
