A Prayer
i hope i can get away with a digression here.
i started my 'online forum' life on The Well, one of the earliest online communities, and very influential in its time. i had an account there for 18 years, which kind of makes my head spin.
early on, there would be calls for prayers for one or another member experiencing a personal crisis. because there was an extremely broad mix of people on the Well - faithful, agnostic, atheist, antitheist, etc - there was some discussion of how people could all express their concerns and hopes for better, in a 'broader' way, that could bring together those listed above in that common purpose. what they came up with was 'beams'. that is, someone would request that members 'send beams to so-and-so' - beams of love, beams of good thoughts, beams of light - whatever the person felt beams meant, they could then turn right around and send them to the person in need, even though they had no tangible sense.
in some respects, it was/is perhaps a bit new-age-ey in its sensibility, but it really did work. even the atheist libertarian crackpots would join in. :yh_wink
i personally have no objection at all to sending prayers. but i also like the 'non-denominational' quality of beams.
so. i send beams to LC, beams of strength and beams of hope.

Count me in!! I think of LC often and have been sending thoughtwaves her way. Will offer up a prayer now that whatever the problem is will have a happy outcome.
"Life is too short to ski with ugly men"
A Prayer
I will add my beams of love for LC. May she overcome whatever ails her.
I respect this method and have some small understanding of how it works and it is the essence that makes thoughts, prayers, kindnesses, and so on work their stuff.

I'm a great one for lighting candles in moments of both happiness, sorrow and remembrance. If I remember rightly, we lit candles in Canterbury cathedral Rog.
When I go home tonight, I'll light a candle for LC as a measure of love, hope and everlasting happiness. :-4
The first time I did this was in the 1980s when Lech Walenska (please excuse spelling) was imprisoned for his beliefs. People were asked to light a candle and put it in the window as a sign of Solidarity. It is something that has stayed with me ever since.

What a super idea, Bez. I will follow your lead. Yes, we did light one each in Canterbury Cathedral for all of humanities ills.

I guess the ambience of churches and cathedrals lend them selves to the lighting of candles.....there's something kinda 'spiritual' about the flickering flame.....it seems to be the source of 'something' but I'm not sure what....

I think I've done it in almost every little village church I've ever ventured into in France and Italy too, Bez. Grin. And some of the big cathedrals as well. An outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual intention, I guess. When words don't come.

It's not actually LC directly, but might as well be. I wish I could say more, but she has asked it not be made public yet. If she gives the ok, either Carla or myself will bring everyone up to speed. Just keep sending the beams and love gang!! She appreciates it. I'm sure it's working, Cher, if no more than offering comfort.
