I have to go to the hospital tomorrow to get it x-rayed to make sure my bones are okay. I'm concerned that this condition could affect my own job security, but I hope that with treatment, it will recover.

I had a few years ago. I was lifting to many weights. I had to stop and get treated with anit-inflammatory's. I made a complete recovery and still lift, I just have to use less weight now to prevent a recurrance.

Good luck Marie :)

Did you get your other medication issue squared away? You said you were feeling down in the dumps with the medication change your MD made.

Hope all is well now. :-6

Actually, my other medication was kept as is..for now. I actually came out of the funk I was in, and feel better, so Dr wants me to stay where I am with the med for now.

I had it too, in my shoulder. It was from waiting tables, carring those trays. I was only about 22. I got a cortisone shot directly in the bursa and it cleared right up. It did come back if I wasn't careful, just took anti inflamatory, like Advil or something.

It's pretty common I think

helefra wrote: Good idea Marie - this is a problem that you definitely do not want - very painful. At the moment it feels like there is something crushing my shoulder and no matter where I move my shoulder, I can't seem to find any comfortable position to rest it in. The worst is not being able to move my arm in positions that I need to without experiencing pain and discomfort.:-1

I was told that ice helps, but I always found that heat helped more than cold.

They have those disposable heating patches, they are wonderful!

Glucosamine is good for all joints helefra. I have arthritis in my thumb joints...I had cortisone injections which really worked...I'm getting it in one of my hip joints now....hey ho....wear and tear i guess.

Good luck at the doctors ..:yh_flower

Oh yes...I always find heat is more soothing than ice, but not sure the effect is the same....ice probably relieves the inflamation better.

Hi, sorry that you have to bear the discomfort of bursitis.

Personally and professionally, always been a fan of natural or alternative healing. So, I hope the follwoing tidbits of information from my days in Complemetary and Alternative Nutrition Therapy can help you...

Basically, it is still very surprising how many conditions and diseases remain DIET-RELATED. The body is meant to be able to perform normal activity WITHOUT pain. Regarding natural healing and alternative treatment, accupunture is one vialbe and practical option. Also, fish, nuts, and seeds contain anti-inflammatory oils that help lubricate your joints.

Glucosamine may help in rebuilding your connective tissue. High quality Vitamin C is a good complement, as well.

Flaxseed is a great source of omega-3 oils that helps with inflammation.

Eat foods that are rich in BROMELAIN, the digestive enzyme that also aids in reducing inflammation.

Also, hyaluronic acid is naturally occurring, and the supplement has reports of

assisting with connective tissue problems, plus the additional side benefit of

helping prevent premature aging.

Wishing you a rapid and safe recovery, and do let me know if any of this is helpful.

Sincerely,

Helefra how have you been feeling lately?

I feel for you, I have it in my hip sadly that came as a result of my second pregnancy. Wow what pain. Fortunately it is less now but every now and then it flares up. Yes aging sucks.

helefra wrote: Thank you for your kind thoughts OM and believe me you don't want bursitis either. It's almost like having a broken arm yet you know in some way that your arm is not broken. When it becomes really inflamed, like mine was, it is very painful to move your arm. The only thing I can recommend to anyone who hasn't got bursitis is to try not to lift any more than you can carry - i.e. don't go over the top and try to weight lift something.:)

That's very good advice Helefra. In fact, there is also a wrong and right way to lift things. I was fortunate enough to have had this included in my training as an apprentice and it has done me well in that I've never had an injury caused by lifting. It's worth finding out about this as we all have to lift things and it doesn't take much of a weight to put your back out.

Dear Helefra...

You hit the nail on the head, speaking of wear and tear.

And, of course, prevention is our first and best alternative.

I make certain to remind my online clients that, ironically, movement remains a highly assistive cure. That is, supervised, consistent physical activity has great usage in both the prevention and repair of damaged and potentially damaged tissue.

It's also good to know that you possess the ther essential ingredient - a balanced and positive emotional outlook. It's a vital part of the three-part healing team called body, mind, and spirit.

Excuse the typo...

"the ther ingredient" should be "the other ingredient."

Thanks.:)

Dear Cherandbuster...

Is yours truly the photo of a person getting older? I ask because you handle your age greatly. "Nyu wlook mwarvelus.":wah: ... twuly mwarvelous!

Seriously, thanks for the stimulating replies about age. I guess one can consider pain

as a gift that life hands to you, simply for still being around.

Yet, I always see how life rewards those who follow consistent, positive and healthy eating, exercise, and other lifestyle behaviors.

Keep up the good work, and let me know if ever I can be of assistance in your weight management, fitness, and health endeavors.

Dear Zinkyusa]

With a supportive, supervised exercise program, of course you will get back your ability to move fairly fluently. With over 17 years of alternative nutrition, personal training, lifestyle and weight management experience, I'm sure you can benefit from my complimentary (and complementary) assistance.

My best to you.
