Try Aveyond. It's a beautiful RPG in the old style (although it's a new game). It has a lot of strong female characters (including the lead), interesting plot, tons of side quests, and really great music.

Nope. It's only 18 bucks US on the official site, amaranthia.com, and you'll get TONS of mileage out of that. It took me about 33 hours to finish it the first time, but I'll be playing it again to get the things I missed before.

Personally, I'm a fan of getting free stuff in general, but sometimes there is a good cause to support. I read about the game's developer and I'm happy I supported her by actually buying the game: she makes fantastic RPGs and I hope her company does well and keeps coming out with new games.
