left-handed or right-handed....or?

Post by anastrophe »

curious what our proportions are here.

for purposes of the poll:

left-handed: write with left hand. do most 'handed' tasks with left hand.

left-handed with ambidextrosity: write with left hand. but can use standard 'right handed' scissors. might use computer mouse on the right. etc.

right-handed: write with right hand. do most 'handed' tasks with right hand.

right-handed with ambidextrosity: write with right hand. but might use computer mouse on the left, etc.

ambidextrous: can write with equal facility with left or right hand. no 'handedness' preference.

I chose Right-Handed with Ambidextrosity. When I started school I used to write with my left hand, but that was considered 'wrong'. There were 3 of us who wrote with our left-hand and we were all scolded or had our hands tapped with a ruler until we wrote with our right hand. Only one girl carried on writing with her left.

Now I write with my right but do most things with my left hand first - I'm just cackhanded! :wah:

Interestingly, my daughter is left handed! When she started to write she'd write from the top right of a page across to the top left and all her letters would be back to front - like a mirror image. Weird, huh? :wah:

I'm a righty, but I'm a mirror twin. That means that my twin Susie is a lefty. She was raised using righty scissors and righty baseball mitts (we were tomboys!), so I bet she would be left-handed with ambidextrosity . . . interesting! :-6

Right handed but I used to play cricket left handed. I used to let them set the fielders up for a right-handed batsman then turn as the bowler made his approach. :sneaky:

Can play golf or baseball left or right handed.

Learned to write left-handed for a while when I fractured my right thumb

I'm ambidextrous, but only with my right hand :D

I also have an embalmed hand that belonged to one of Saddam's Red Guard...... That was brought back from the first Gulf War. I used to chase my young nieces and nephews around our house with it when they came to visit....there's a timex watch still on the wrist. My missus wanted it put in a drawer, but as a compromise, it's now wall mounted. I rarely see my nieces and nephews now, they've all grown up

Occasionally they'll stop by.....they don't come in, they just park and point up at our window for their friends, and then drive away. :(

Oh you brought back a new family "member" from the war eh Clancy..;)

One of my teachers also tried to make me write with my right hand, but my Mum being a left hander herself went banana's. My brother is also left handed as is my son.

I write and slice bread with my left, but most other things I do ambiwhateverly, depends how long before my wrist gets tired, then I swap! :D

They tried that with me - all they succeeded in doing was making my writing unreadable (described by one teacher as a spider having fallen in the ink pot and run around the page). It's only just recovering now.

Mirror writing is usually a sign of high intelegence so let her play :-)
