People have said, it depends on what you buy on ebay.
2-1/2 years ago, 3 of my friends bought their cars "sight unseen" from ebay-motors! They (all 3) were absolutely thrilled with their beautiful cars they bought. After myself seeing "in person" the beautiful cars they purchased & had shipped to them, I looked at a car on line at ebay-motors, and after looking at over "30" pictures of this beautiful car that supposidly had only 29,000 miles on it, I foolishly bought it. As it turned out the car was in Florida, & I was going there on holiday in 3 weeks time, so I sent the car dealer a $1000 deposit to hold the car there for me, till I got there in person to pick it up. Well, low & behold when I got there the car was far from beautiful. All the pictures were clevery taken, so to hide all the "fault" areas! "Nothing worked right on the car", all the power options were messed up, the advertised "Ice-Cold" airconditioner was not even working. There were too many things wrong to list here, the car must have had "129,000" miles on it not the advertised 29,000! After much robust discussion with the car dealer, he refunded my money! LUCKY ME! I could have been out the $1000 dollars!
So just a word of caution, beware of what & where you buy! Especially "sight-unseen" items.

Ive only made 1 e bay purchase. I had to bid on it. I bought 550 feet of grapevine. I was thrilled. I know I would never make as large a purchase as a vehicle. I do have a friend who sells everything you can possibly imagine on E Bay. All of her selling information is truthful.

Wow, this is informative to me. I did not know you could buy cars on e-bay. I don't think I would ever buy a car I had not seen with my eyes and driven myself.

Right you are chonsi, I normally never would do anything like that. However, all 3 of my friends kept egging me on. And after seeing first hand the mint condition cars "all 3" of them got, (all 3 bought them "sight unseen" & had them shipped to them from Florida via a car transport service)
I figured how bad could it be? As it turned out, apparently all 3 of my friends dealt with reputable dealers. But those dealers didn't have the exact car I was looking for at the time, and the dealer I found on my own unfortunately did. It was a nasty experience, one I will never forget! Never again! I won't even look at E-Bay any more for any thing, small or large!:wah:

I've bought 2 cars on Ebay and the sellers was great!
One drove the car 50 miles to my house with his wife following in her car to take him back home. He let us take it for a test drive so we were happy with it before we paid for it. And then he would only take an extra £10 for petrol for delivering it to us and for his wife making the journey too.
The other car we bought also had a very nice seller. He only listed it for a couple of days and we put in the only bid. When we met him he was very pleasant and when we paid him he said we only need pay half what he asked for. :-4
I've only had 2 bad experiences with Ebay. Once when I sent cash for an item and the seller took everyone's money and ran! :-5 The second time I paid via paypal and the seller kept promising he'd sent the item but wouldn't show me the proof of postage receipt. After 3 weeks of emailing him I complained to Paypal - and they returned my money within a week.
I love Ebay as you can hunt down things which you can't find locally and usually they're a LOT cheaper! I also love Paypal as its SO easy to use and it protects your payments/purchases.

Cars, I forgot to say that the advertiser has a duty to tell you the truth abut the item and has to repay you if you his description is faulty.
However, its difficult when you've already paid a deposit. I can't recommend paypal too highly to protect yourself.
I hope you left a strongly negative feedback!

Yes Rap, guess you were one of the lucky ones. I didn't get into it in my other posts, but I querried the "Car dealer" almost on a daily basis. As while having to wait over 3 weeks to go there & get the car in person, I looked at those beautiful "pix" of the car many times over. And I thought about many things to ask him. Also I saw one thing on one of the photos that he said didn't really look like that in person. He told me everything I wanted to hear. He must have really been a fool, to think that I was such the fool to actually take that car after seeing it when I got there! Since after all the questions I asked him, he had to know I was a car buff. Go figure! And yes, I did use "Paypal" to send him the $1000 deposit. But it was still quite a robust hassle to get my deposit back from "him", but I did! Don't mess with "CARS"!
PS: You would not belive the NEGATIVE feed back I left for him, I'm suprised they published it!
