Good meds, Bad meds

Post by cars »

People with pain have been prescribed "FDA" approved meds, like Celebrex, Vioxx, and over the counter Naproxen. (ALEVE) Now these meds are said may be harmful to ones Heart! Just goes to show you, you can never be too sure of anything. "FDA" approved or not! :-3 Give me the old "Asprin", (around for many years) it reduces pain, Arthritis stiffness, works on fevers, and taking one a day even helps "prevent" heart problems!

Asprin company's stock (wish I had some) will probably soar!! :wah:

There is no ingested substance that is risk free, the more complex substances usually have greater risk. Each person will have a different reaction to any given substance. Yeah I know, simplistic -but absolutely true. To be trite once more, ya make's yer choice's, ya takes yer chances.

If you looked closely, the new information came from testing the medications in a non formulaic manner. Personally, I appreciate having the choices. I want the FDA to regulate the purity, and furnish all possible data. My job is to choose, and use responsibly.

With any medication, there are risks. I was once asked to try a medication that was experimental. I refused. I was worried about the long term affects. Aspirin is not safe for children, is not good for people with ulcers, etc. Every medicine has side affects, what works for one, won't work for another, etc. I'll take my chances if it will provide me pain relief.

You stole my Asprin answer :-6

Asprin has many bad side effects and should be used in moderation at all times... Wouldn't want to cut yourself and the wound NOT stop bleeding, like rat poison Asprin is.

If Aspirin came on the market today, it likely would NOT be OTC but

prescription only. I love having aspirin easily available to me, but I have

never had a problem of any kind with it. I usually take the buffered kind,

and eat a little something with it to avoid tummy upset.

And I take a "baby" aspirin every day, and I am a regular blood donor and

able to donate without problem!

My Dr seems unaware of any problems with Naproxen. (ALEVE). He gave me a perscription for it as my knee poped out a few days ago.

I'm like isn't this over the counter and he is like not at these doses.

I did not fill the perscription:)

If my knee is not better in two weeks he want to exray it.
