Digital VS Land line phone service

I gotta call from earthlink today. The character explained to me they have a package with local and unlimited long distance calling (including canada and several others) and DSL speed, for 57.00 a month and that included all hidden fees and taxes.

And that's with a digital phone line. That is 65% cheaper than what I pay monthly. I'm leary about the digital phone, for I use it totally for my jobs.

What's your opinion on digital lines VS standard land lines? And Earthlink too, are they able to compete with the big dogs?

From my own experience, they are all the same,...one just portrays itself as being cheaper to begin with only to raise the price, hoping that you don't switch to the other company who has just called selling you the same line.

Has anyone tried Skype? I wasn't interested before umtil i realised you can now call ordinary phones and mobiles with it.
