Rest in peace

Post by weinbeck »

A deeply religious man, having written several books on theology, was on his last knockings. He summons his wife to his bedside.

"Sarah, there isn't much time left. Please call my agent and my solicitor. I want to see them one last time." They duly arrive in great haste. pen and paper at the ready. The old man shakes his head.

"No time for that now. Mr. Goldberg, sit by my right - Mr. Greenberg, sit by my left. Please hold my hands, both of you."

Clearly touched by this gesture, all three sit holding hands until finally he smiles up at the ceiling, gives a small gasp, and slips contentedly into the next world. Both men are saddened and offer their sincere condolences to the berieved wife.

"I don't understand, though," said his agent. "The rows we had over the years, I thought he hated me."

"Me too." Agreed his solicitor. "He never had a good word to say about me."

"You are both right." Said his wife as she showed them the door. "He never had time for either of you. But you see, Jesus died between two thieves - he wanted to experience what it felt like!"
