Firefox 1.5

I'm going to be really silly and ask if you ran the download file before you re-opened Firefox. I only ask because you didn't say you did.

Otherwise, I assume you have Windows XP - what do you do to run firefox? Click the desktop icon? the quickstart bat? Start / Programs / Mozilla Firefox / Firefox?

Yah you have to download it. But it's worth the time.

Yes I have Xp service pack 2 & when I open the internet i click the little firefox window on the desktop.

After downloading it did you run the exe?

If so, as Spot suggested, you might have to set up a new shortcut to point as the new version of the program (I know it should do it itself but......)

Do you remember the steps you went through after the download finished?

Right, I've rebooted in Windows mode to make sure the versions don't differ.

Open Firefox and click on tools in the menubar.

About a quarter of the way down click on downloads - this will open up a new window.

Near the top of the list of files in that window should be Firefox_Setup_2.0.exe, click on open.

If you cannot find the file in the list, at the bottom of the window it should say "all files downloaded to" followed by either a directory name or desktop.

If it says desktop then there should be an icon on your desktop with the filename above - double click it.

If it shows a directory name then open that directory in Windoze Explorer and double click on the filename there.

Whichever of the three methods you use, that should start the installer running. If you have any problems then tell me where and what and I'll try to advise further.

When you've clicked on the new icon and FireFox is running, click Help in the menubar and then about - what version does it report?

To view videos you'll need to download flash from Adobe.

Go into WWW.ADOBE.COM/SHOCKWAVE/DOWNLOAD and click on the "download now" button

When the download has finished click "open" in the download manager and it will install.
