Do you have a high or low tolerance to pain?

I have a very low tolerance for physical pain. I've gotten better since having 2 kids. But my parents swear that I did the whole exorcist head spinning deal when someone touched me after I had my appendix out. :o

I have a high tolerance for pain which is a good thing with my arthritis. I've had surgery that was supposed to keep me off work for 6 weeks and was able to go back in 2 because they wouldn't release me any sooner. The only pain I never could take was a toothache.

I also have a high tolerance for pain. After three back surgeries, you kind of learn to put up with the discomfort :(

My tolerance has increased as I've got older, I wasn't all that happy giving birth, it was a long and tiring labour, so I had an epidural but two years ago I had a hysterectomy and used hardly any morphine after and was able to go home quickly.

I think I'm just weird 'cos the pain that I have most days I can cope with most of the time but one off pain drives me nuts!

I have a high tolerance for physical pain but low for emotional pain.

I have a high pain tolerance - after 15 surgerys since 1995, you learn to cope.

I would have said a low tolerance, except after the crash with the drunk idiot, my head was laid wide open and 2 women from the house I'd landed close to came out to help me. My reaction? To start throwing punches. When the ambulance got there, I tried to swing on them, too.

But all that reaction could have been becaue I was going into shock. So, I'm a toss-up!

No, I didn't land a single punch. They told me later that I was swinging at people 15 feet away. HA!!

I have a pretty low tolerance for pain. When I fell yesterday, I think that was part of my difficulty with getting back up. My knees hurt something awful.

I heard someone describe childbirth as taking your lower lip, and pulling it back over the top of your head, as far as it will go.

You swing and become combative due to a head trauma.

Patsy
And when that comes to a person who is combative anyway, it's that much worse.

I'd've answered this question very differently three weeks ago.

Living with arthritis for umpteen years has increased my pain tolerance---FOR THE PAIN THAT I KNEW.

But--the NEW pain associated with this knee transplant has been amazingly severe! I think it's a case of that old adage about "the devil you know....."

All I can say now is.....THANK HEAVENS FOR PERCOSET! :wah:

My lung collapsed in 2000. No pain really, just short of breath. But then they stuck a tube in the empty space to suck the air out & reinflate the lung. Every time I moved, shifted - breathed - that tube rubbed against the inside of my chest. Any idea how many nerve endings are on the inside of your chest cavity??

I think I can check the 'high' category.

more like taking your worst menstrual cramps and multiplying the pain and discomfort by 4,876,321.....:wah:

I have a high tolerance for pain, childbirth was the worst but SO worth it, I did it twice and would happily do it again....:D

I laughed while I gave birth.

The doctor said he wished he was filming it. I'm kinda glad he wasn't. Who needs those home movies?

I have a high tolerance for pain.

Abot two months ago i fell off a truck. i dont remember getting up!

Some of the people who saw me fall say that i was down for like 30 seconds, then i just got up! :-3
The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.
