Some expensive sleep!

Post by valerie »

So I FINALLY decided to go see a doctor about my really

terrible insomnia, it's been about 2 months (or more)

since I've had 8 hours unassisted sleep. I have no

health insurance so went to the Wal Mart clinic, hey,

it's cheap and I consider I got really good service.

He gave me a prescription for Sonata, I told him if I

could just even have 1 or 2 nights a week of sleep then I'd

just deal with the other nights.

Just picked up the prescription, from cheapie Costco,

and do you know it cost SIXTY-EIGHT dollars for TWENTY

capsules?

No stress here I'm sure to start sleepin' good NOW.

Are they perforated ? Maybe you could cut them in half. Perhaps it would be enough to get you started.

Will you be posting all stoned out now ? I hope so. :)

Well look at it this way val, if you get "4" good nights sleep in a week, you've got it for "5" good weeks! Maybe by/after then you'll get into the natural sleeping mode. If not, then another $68 for 5 more weeks. Good Luck, & happy ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Try cough medicine!

2 swigs of Benelyn for a tickly cough knocks me out in 30 seconds and I literally don't move for 8 hours straight! And I wake up feeling GREAT! ;)

You'd be no good over on this side then. I have to get up at 4.30 everymorning to be in work by 8.00, and yet my normal bedtime is around 12.30 a.m. any earlier than this, I'd fall asleep and then wake up at around three in the morning where my mind would whirr away at all the problems I faced, so I find it easier to turn in when I'm tired, and have four hours unbroken sleep.

I hate not being able to sleep. For me it is pain related.

Hope you are doing better soon, Val.

Val

Contact the Pharmaceutical Company at times they will send you the drug for free and/or the DR could've had sample. I have done this in the past and received some expensive medicine for my husband for free. PLAVIX was free.

Good suggestion Patsy. Rick gets a couple of his more expensive medications in sample packs from his doctor.

Do they make a generic version of Sonata?

ETA: I just checked and apparently they do. The generic name is Zaleplon.

Val...do you have a good mattress? I bought a SLEEP COMFORT bed and I'm in blissful comfort every night!

You guys are sooo sweet... yes, I've tried just about everything there

is and so this was desperation time! I'm thinking it's partly time of year,

going to look into increasing my Vitamin D even more.

I've given up caffeine, about 7 or 8 years ago, so that's not a problem,

2 Extra Strength Excedrin make my hands shake, my body is so

unused to it.

MrsK, valerian doesn't seem to give me headaches, it's just my insomnia

blasts right through it. It's very subtle, sometimes I take it with something

else and it will enhance it, but that's about it.

I've had it off an on for years and still keep up with all the tricks I

learned, a room that's cool and dark and quiet, yes I have a comfy

mattress... go to bed and get up the same time even on weekends...

all of those things.

But it just really gets you down. I've been missing a lot of walks, which

doesn't help any. I generally sleep about 4 hours, then wake around

2 and thumb twiddle for 2 or 3 hours.

I shouldn't have gone ahead and gotten the Sonata, but I'm just

taking it as one of life's little learning lessons!

Thanks for the caring support.

Val

!st of all - how about those 49ers !!!

On the medication your taking - watch for the side affects if any - you may want to try to take half a capule at first - its messy but can be done.

I have trouble sleeping due to all my pain, I find starting out on the sofa, my comfy spot, pillow supporting my neck pillows supporting other parts of my spine and I'm out, I'll wake up and shuffle to the bedroom and sleep like a baby.

Someone (LULU?) suggested a new mattress - I'd love a to try a new mattress, and that could be the answer for the both of us.. Be careful with the meds. All meds change you in one way shape or form..

SLEEP COMFORT (that's the one with the numbers for firmness....it's an air mattress, really.) TRY ONE!
