Don't Quite Have My Broadband yet

Post by Marie5656 »

So, here is the story. I ordered up my new broadband account..got the equipment and went to set it up. Got everything hooked up...but had to wait till yesterday to complete the installation, because that was when my account was going to be activated.

So, before yesterday, everything seemed to be fine, the computer was detecting everything, and I looked good to go.

Last night, after dinner, I go to finish the process...and nothing..the computer was not even detecting the gateway..which it had the day before. So..on the phone with the tech support guy. He checked the equipment from his end, asked what my black box was doing. I told him about all the pretty red, green and amber lights I was seeing. Turned out..that was NOT a good thing..they should have been all green.

It seems I was one of the "lucky" few who gets the bad system. So, needless to say, I am having to live with my dial up till Monday evening, when thier service guy is going to come out with a new box and get me going. So m uch for playing with the broad band while I was home this weekend.

Well, apparently the tech will stay till he is sure both my pc and laptop are running the broadband smoothly. PLUS..I will get a credit for the days I don't have access to it.

I had the same problem in the beginning. Do you have the cables rerouted or are they exceptionally long ? Did you unplug it and restart it ?

Did all that. There is one thing I may have to change though...the DSL line has to be plugged into the phone jack...which in my office is buried behind my desk, in a very out of the way place. I have one of those phone jack extensions, so I can access the plug from along side my desk.

The tech guy on the phone said that MAY be a problem, and the DSL line may need to go right into the jack at its source..on the wall. I did tell him that when the system was detecting everythig proper, this is the way I had it.

So he did say that when the service tech comes out Monday he can make that determination. If I have to pull the extension line, so be it...as long as the line is plugged in OK.

Mine is on an extension. I just know I had problems with the box then the guy came out and seemingly did nothing but that seemed to fix it. It sucks waiting for those guys though.

Still do not have it!! When I called on Friday, the tech said he was putting the repair order in for this evening.

But, guess what..due to some glitch in thier computer system....it never got sent through to dispatch. Therefore..no repair service. They are definatly comming out tomorrow...they said.

I think I will call tomorrow just to be sure.
